Fernleaf, the Trusted Goodness™ of Malaysian families recently joined hands with Mydin to give back 500kg of Nutritious Goodness for 10 Homes!

December 21, 2017 by StrawberrY Gal

Fernleaf, the dairy brand trusted for bringing Malaysian families natural dairy goodness from New Zealand, is presenting 500 Kilograms (kg) of milk powder to underprivileged children at 10 orphanages and shelter homes, starting with Agathians Shelter in Petaling Jaya today. The initiative is part of Fernleaf’s Goodness Feeds Greatness campaign, which saw the brand collaborating with Mydin to get shoppers to support the brand’s cause and contribute dairy nutrition to underprivileged children.

Earlier this year from 15 October to 15 November, Fernleaf invited Mydin shoppers to support the brand’s effort in bringing the nutritional benefits of milk to underprivileged children. For each pack of Fernleaf milk powder sold at Mydin throughout the period, 50g of dairy goodness would be contributed to children in orphanages and shelter homes nationwide.

Mr Jose Miguel Porraz-Lando, Managing Director of Fonterra Brands Malaysia and Singapore, shared the rationale behind the dairy company’s initiative: “Every big dream starts with little steps – words of encouragement and positivity from family, friends, loved ones and especially from within play a huge role in supporting our journey towards achieving our goals.”

“Fernleaf has been providing high quality dairy nutrition to Malaysian families for more than 30 years. With this new Mydin collaboration, Fernleaf wanted to take the Goodness Feeds Greatness campaign further by supporting the health and aspirations of not just consumers and their families, but also underprivileged children. By providing them with the right nutritional support, we are able to help these children grow stronger and more resilient against life’s challenges – with one less thing to worry about, they will be more inspired to strive for greatness,” he said.

Datin Wira Dr. Hajah Siti Hawa Binti Mohd, Director of Mydin Mohamed Holdings Bhd, also expressed her enthusiasm on helping these underprivileged children to go for greatness. “As parents, our biggest dream is to watch our children pursue greatness and chase their dreams. One of the most fundamental responsibilities we can fulfil is to give them the best nutrition, which is where Fernleaf steps in.”

“However, for less fortunate children, it is sometimes a challenge to obtain equal opportunity in terms of receiving goodness that is beneficial to their growth. On behalf of Mydin, we are glad to collaborate with Fernleaf in this meaningful initiative. With 500kg of Fernleaf milk powder, I hope that the generosity of Mydin shoppers will help to make a difference in these children’s lives,” she said.

Thanking Mydin, Mr Porraz-Lando said: “Without Mydin’s collaboration, we would not have been able to reach so many like-minded Malaysians in the span of one month. We certainly hope to collaborate again in the near future to bring even more initiatives like this to disadvantaged communities in Malaysia.”

During the ceremony, Ms M. Inthira, Executive Council Member of Agathians Shelter shared her thoughts: “It has always been Agathians Shelter’s mission to ensure that our children get basic needs such as shelter, food and education, which are essential for living. When a child is properly-nourished, he or she can become so much more. I’d like to extend our gratitude towards Fernleaf and Mydin for taking such a noble initiative to help underprivileged kids around the nation enjoy the goodness of milk and spur them on so that they reach their highest potential.”

The nine other homes to receive Fernleaf milk powder include: Asrama Damai Rumah Anak-Anak Yatim Kuang in Rawang, Rumah Kebajikan Anak Yatim Alkhairiyah in Klang, Pertubuhan Anak Yatim Darul Aminan (PAYDA) in Seremban, Vision Home in Ipoh, Rumah Anak-Anak Yatim Islam Jasin in Melaka, Chrystal Home in Perak, Villa Paulos in Johor, Rumah Amal Permata Hatiku in Kuala Lumpur and Sinar Ceria Care Centre in Penang.
