Discover Liguria with Bene Food & Wine Mercato

October 23, 2017 by StrawberrY Gal

Continuing Sheraton Grand Macao Hotel’s alluring discovery of Italian cuisine, Food & Wine Mercato moves south from Piemonte to Liguria on October 27 and 28 at Bene. Liguria, the famous, picturesque tourist destination in Italy is renowned for gourmet wine and seafood. Tucked away in northwestern Italy, this coastal area has a rich variety of fish and other edible produce and is notable for its fish soups, cima alla genovese as well as exemplary wines.

Tantalizing guests’ taste buds with authentic Italian cuisine, Food & Wine Mercato is a monthly event that is inspired by the colorful markets of Italy. Helmed by Luca Pecorari, the Executive Sous Chef of Bene, this month’s menu highlights the best of Liguria’s gastronomy including capon magro (poached seafood salad & vegetables with salsa verde), cima alla genovese (slow cooked veal brisket filled with parmigiano eggs & vegetables, salsa verde) and ciuppin (Ligurian style seafood chowder), all delicately complemented by premium wines such as Santa Sofia (Soave Classico Montefoscarino DOC 2014) and Vivera (Altrove, Bianco DOC 2015).

The first of its kind in Macao, Bene Food & Wine Mercato is a unique dining concept that explores different regions across Italy and celebrates a variety of culinary traditions and authentic flavors. Sourced from all over Italy, Bene showcases the country’s finest ingredients, artisanal products and handpicked wines. The interactive Food & Wine Mercato is hosted at Bene during the last weekend of every month.

Guests can get a real taste of Italy by browsing through the interactive cooking stations among wine professionals and fresh food producers throughout the evening. Mercato also boasts a variety of artisanal retail products for sale allowing guests to recreate classic Italian fare at home.
