Kota- When Francis Meets Rempah @ Fort Cornwallis Georgetown Penang

May 2, 2017 by StrawberrY Gal

A new addition in the iconic historical landmark of Penang – The Fort Cornwallis , there goes a new catchy restaurant. By the name of KOTA- When Francis Meets Rempah; you will be expects a twist of Fusion here with the touch of Local – Nyonya flavours.
Well, for those first timer, you may set your Waze to Fort Cornwallis as they are located inside the Fort itself. The interior design comes simply classy which is with the glass windows and the bright inside view. Simply elegant!
And upon entering; RM 10 for MyCard holders but with every Rm 20 spent in the restaurant… you get to deduct the same amount by flashing them the receipt.
Jumbo Platter (RM 38)
Enjoy the beautiful platter where they are furnished with the pai tee cup, turmeric chicken, or kok , tandoori chicken and kerabu, Have this awesome delicious item where this suits for 1st time comer to enjoy all their signature in one goal. Every item are carefully selected and presented fresh to your table. I am impressed with their “or kok” or called the yam fritters.  The texture is smooth with the distinctive flavours. They are simply aromatic with the pungent taste in it. The tandoori Chicken is also a perfect combination and they are well deep fried till perfection with the fragrant turmeric taste in it.
Nyonya (RM 25)
One of their signatures, and once a first bites I am in loved with it. The Chef had made the dish simply creative and a sight to kill. With the myriad colors, the signature nyonya rice plated with the blue pea flower rice sandwiched in the middle with the rendang chicken on the top and otak otak at the below. Each mouthful brings you with the aromatic taste of it and flavourful. A word to describe, HEAVENLY
Kota Asam Pedas (RM 32)
Served with the goodness flavours in one plate, enjoy the sourish – spicy asam pedas cooked aromatic with the fresh ingredients of salmon fish and prawns. The taste is just perfect and a hearty meal to have.
Laksa (RM 25)
Enjoy the Penang Asam Laksa with a twist here. The laksa here is being wrapped with rice paper and laksa leaf.  They have another which is the crispy version and you will be amazed with it.  Help yourself with the bowl of asam laksa soup which is fragrantly cooked with the sourish and spicy taste in it. Topped with the kesom, cucumber, pineapple, mackerel, and galangal with it. It brings you a with the impressive flavourful taste and it is simply authentic.
Satay (RM 25)
Served alike sushi style not in skewers, the dish comes impressive beautiful insight. The chicken satay brings you with the impressive done where the meat remains tender and topped with the creamy fragrant peanut sauce on top. Perfect!
And of course, never missed their lovely desserts with a twist here
Crème Brulee (RM 19)
One of the best I had, the crème brulee here is not the normal ones we had in shop but Chef had made a twist of it in 3 types of different flavours. With the inspiration of French Cuisine, the desserts is combined with nyonya flavours where they have the Pandan Crème Brulee, Egg Cream Brulee and the Gula Melaka Crème Brulee. The Gula Melaka Crème Brulee is the one that impressed me  a lot where they comes with the fragrance touch of Gula Melaka in it. Not overly sweet and it is such a perfect indulgence.
Nyonya Tiramisu (RM 19)
The Nyonya Tiramisu is perfectly unique  where they are well layered with the twist of Asian in it. The Italian desserts with the Nyonya influence show-casting a replacement of the ingredients where you have the creamy pandan kuih at the below layered with the mascarpone and topped with the coconut flakes as well as Gula Melaka. Sides with a cup of espresso by the side. Enjoy the Tiramisu with some sips of coffee. Such an indulgence.
Signature: Lemongrass,Lime,Min, Chili, Sprite
Sunrise: Orange, Lime, Mint, Mango, Sprite
Sunset: Watermelon, Mint, Lime, Sprite
As for the drinks, we tried their three (3) of their creation where they are Signature, Sunrise, and Sunset (RM 16 each) . I would say these drinks brings you with the touch of Malaysian Nyonya Flavours.
