New and Upgraded Event Venues at Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur

Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur recently unveiled its newly refurbished Grand Ballroom and Function Rooms. Exclusively designed by Hong Kong based LRF Designers Limited, the US$ 11 million refurbishment project took four months to complete.

Located across three floors of the hotel, the newly upgraded event spaces are ideal to host national and international conventions, weddings, social and corporate events. The Grand Ballroom and Function Rooms are meticulously designed with great flexibility as it can be tailor made to cater for big, grand events as well as small, intimate functions.

The Grand Ballroom
The new Grand Ballroom, furnished with the latest in cutting edge technology is an icon of luxury, splendour and elegance. Located on Level Basement 2, it stands tall on a total land area of 1,509 square metres. The pillar-less Grand Ballroom features high ceilings, a grand elevated stage and flexible partitioning systems.

The foyer of the Grand Ballroom is lighted up by three dazzling chandeliers and the entrance is made out of marble and artistically crafted white timber doors. The interior is elegantly styled with carved medallion walls, fabric panels, mirrors and beautiful wall lights. The floor is adorned with plush hand-tufted carpets in shades of blue and beige and the ceiling of the Grand Ballroom is majestically decorated with elaborate lights and three stunning chandeliers embellished with crystals.
               
The Grand Ballroom is fitted with state-of-the-art technology which features superior audio-visual and communication systems, sophisticated lighting systems, large high definition LED screens and complimentary Wi-Fi connection.

The capacity of the Grand Ballroom varies according to the style of set up. It can seat up to 1,800 guests in a reception or theatre setting, 1440 guests in a banquet setting and 660 guests in a classroom setting.

Function Rooms
The 13 new Function Rooms featuring grand and contemporary décor are named after the different states in Malaysia. The size of the event spaces range from 905 square metres to 45 square metres. All Function Rooms are equipped with audio-visual and communication systems, advanced lighting systems and complimentary Wi-Fi connection.

The Lower Lobby has been completely re-designed and equipped with multi-purpose partitioning systems, which forms into a very large foyer or exhibition space. It also features multiple choices of individual Function Rooms, catering to a variety of needs and requirements.
The Junior Ballroom is made up of four combined Function Rooms which can seat a maximum of 400 guests in a banquet setting and the Grand Johor room, formed by a combination of six Function Rooms can seat up to 340 guests in a banquet setting.

For more private or intimate events, guests can accommodate the smaller Function Rooms which can host an average of 100 to 200 guests in a banquet setting.
