A Reunion of Timeless Tales at Quill City Mall

January 17, 2017 by StrawberrY Gal

Inspired by the era of the 1920’s, Quill City Mall ushered the Lunar New Year of the Rooster with the theme Grand Shanghai, A Reunion of Timeless Tales.  Grand Shanghai, in its heydays was the place to be, the place known for the greatest architecture, the best in art and entertainment.  Shanghai was considered a cosmopolitan city, China’s hub of the East-meets-West cultural exchange, the openness to new and foreign ideas, inventions and cultures.

Grand Shanghai, A Reunion of Timeless Tales was officiated by Dato’ Dr. Jennifer Low, Group Managing Director of Quill Group of Companies and Dato’ Ar. Michael Ong, Group Executive Director of Quill Group of Companies.  In line with its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, the mall hosted 60 senior citizens from Rumah Charis and Rumah Victory.  The senior citizens were entertained by the acrobatic lion dance and various Chinese New Year performances.  They were then treated to a “Lou Sang” followed by a sumptuous luncheon.

From 9 January – 14 February 2017, shoppers could witness the beautifully orchestrated era of the Grand Shanghai set forth within the main court of the mall.  The main court is segmented into different setups, to depict the diversified and rich ethos of the era, truly a reunion of timeless tales to look forward to.

Hop on the “Tram to Shanghai” to have a feel of the era’s mode of transport.  Take a stroll along the streets of Shanghai and admire the attractively decorated shops and stalls, be sure to shop around for the New Year or simply indulge in the gastronomic delights offered.  Be in awe of the displayed antiques used back in the 1920’s and admire the brightly lighted lanterns and flourishing blossom trees all over the main court.

With each New Year comes new hopes and wishes for a better future. Whatever your wish may be, be sure to get hold of the red ribbon tied to ancient coins at our Concierge Counter (a minimum donation of RM10 is required, all proceeds will go to Rumah Charis & Rumah Victory).  Write your wish on the ribbon, toss it onto one of the big cherry blossom tree as high as you can and get it successfully hung onto one of the branch.  May all that you wish for come true!
The stage at the main court is majestically constructed to replicate the entertainment club back then, where one could get a nostalgic feel of what it’s like to be serenaded by the Jazz and Chinese Instrumental performances of the Golden Era.

Chinese New Year would not be complete without the lively lions and the percussions!  Be sure to watch out for the Acrobatic Lion Dance & Traditional Lion Dance performances, the 12 Festive Drums and the Face Mask Changing performances all throughout this festive season.  Our God of Prosperity will be doing his rounds to spread good cheers and fortune to all, don’t forget to take a picture with him, a selfie or two!

Exciting activities have been lined up all throughout this festive season, which includes calligraphy competition and workshops, fan art workshops and clay figurine workshops for the entire family.
Quill City Mall is giving out exclusive Ang Pow packet, each with 5 different elegantly designed qibao with a minimum spent of RM88 in a single receipt and a premium Silk Pouch with a minimum spent of RM188 in a single receipt or an accumulation of up to 2 receipts.
To reward our loyal shoppers during this festive season, Quill City Mall collaborated with GrabCar on a special promotion.  From 9 January – 14 February 2017, shoppers can enjoy RM5 off for rides made to and from Quill City Mall.  Promotions are limited when used with debit and credit card only (terms & conditions apply).

Quill City Mall turns 2 on 18 January 2017!  For this year’s 2nd Anniversary Fiesta, there will be lucky draws and lucky grabs for shoppers to participate in and walk away with great prizes.  Truly a double happiness celebration for the mall and all!

Come be a part of this memorable symphony, where East meets West this Chinese New Year.  Quill City Mall wishes everyone a blessed and prosperous Chinese New Year!
Quill City Mall, indulge, explore & feel the vibe!
