The upcoming MATTA Travel Fair, happening between 2 and 4 September, will see the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) promoting the city’s history, iconic cultural sights, and the various events happening in Macao between September and December 2016.
The events to look out for are the 28th Macao International Fireworks Display Contest, 30th Macao International Music Festival, Macao Food Festival, Suncity Group 63rd Macau Grand Prix, Parade through Macao, Latin City, Macao International Marathon, Macao Light Festival, and the 1st International Film Festival & Awards.Macao.
For vacationers seeking the best travel deals to Macao, attractive Macao packages are available from participating travel agents at the fair. Airlink Travel & Tour Sdn Bhd, Pearl Holiday Travel & Tour Sdn Bhd, Golden Tropics Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd, Eden Tours & Travel Sdn Bhd, Roystar Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd, and Corporate Information Travel Sdn Bhd (CIT), are some of the few agents to look out for. To celebrate the upcoming 28th Macao International Fireworks Display Contest, Macao’s yearly fireworks extravaganza, visitors are able to create their own fireworks sparks and take it home as a souvenir.
“Sporting the ‘Experience Macao Your Own Style’ theme to showcase Macao as a unique mixed culture destination of East and West, the Macao booth will also see participation from Cotai Ferry promoting ferry services, and Crowne Plaza Macao promoting their hotel,” said Cherry Lee from MGTO.
List of Events 28th Macao International Fireworks Display Contest 3, 10, 15, 24 September & 1 October The end-of-year festivities literally do kick off with a bang! Not too many cities have a pyrotechnic claim to fame, but Macao’s yearly fireworks extravaganza ranks right up there. In brilliant bursts of explosivity and creativity, and augmented by a super sound show, the night sky comes alive on five separate dates.

30th Macao International Music Festival (MIMF) 1 – 10 October
MIMF will see top-level musicians and ensembles from Russia, the Unites States, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Mongolia, Taiwan, Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao, offering 20 programmes and a total of 27 excellent performances. This edition of the MIMF is themed “Glorious 30 ‧ The Sinophone Rhapsodies”.
16th Macao Food Festival 11 – 27 November Food is an essential part of “Experience Macao Your Own Style”.
For intrepid foodies – the gastronomes as well as the adventurous – the Macao Food Festival promises to answer all your cravings. Organised by the Association of Macau Restaurant Merchants, this foodfest offers Asian, Europian, Chinese and local delicacies, plus entertainment, and games.

Suncity Group 63rd Macau Grand Prix 17 – 20 November
One of the year’s – and the region’s – premier sporting events, the Macau Grand Prix boasts one of the world’s few city circuits, and the only street routed event that features both car and motorcycle competitions, the former comprising both Formula
3 and FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) races.
The 6.12 km Guia Circuit weaves its way through the city, providing an adrenalinecharged setting that provides visitors with that rarest of opportunities – a free front row seat!

Parade through Macao, Latin City 4 December
Also known as the Latin City Parade in short, this event celebrates the anniversary of Macao’s handover to China from Portugal in 1999.
Macao International Marathon 4 December Coinciding with the Latin City Parade, the Macao Galaxy Entertainment International Marathon brings together amateur and professional runners from all over the world for the Full Marathon, Half Marathon and Mini-Marathon.

Macao Light Festival 4 – 31 December
The city’s skyline “dresses up” in spectacular threads, moving bands and undulating patterns of neon, in a spectacular display.
1st International Film Festival & Awards . Macao 8 – 13 December Be part of cinematic history at the launch of Macao’s first-ever international film festival gala. The IFFAM celebrates, promotes and raises awareness for Chinese language, Asian and international cinema in all its forms. Includes retrospectives and tributes to major industry figures, and capped by an awards ceremony.
