LE MERIDIEN KOTA KINABALU UNVEILS ITALIAN RESTAURANT ‘FAVOLA’

July 13, 2016 by StrawberrY Gal

Le Meridien Kota Kinabalu is excited to unveil the city’s latest dining destination, Favola Italian Restaurant, which features authentic Italian specialties and signature service.

Located at lobby level beyond the hotel’s Latitude 05 bar, Favola’s distinctive entrance features subtle lights along the entrance steps and solid granite walls, setting to tone for a warm, mysterious private cave-like ambience for guests.  The restaurant’s inviting surrounds in rich hues of granite, warm grey, bronze and gold, dark wood tones and mirrors create an inviting feel for intimate, private dining.

Favola means ‘fable’ in Italian and upon the entrance guests will note an impressive leather-bound Book of Fables.  Guests are invited to pen stories of their dining experiences at Favola or read others.

Modern Italian cuisine is what Favola presents with an emphasis on flavours from Tuscany.   The restaurant focuses on the freshest ingredients, seafood, meats and produces.   The showcase is on premium rustichella pastas, the best quality steaks, freshest seafood and creative desserts. Signature homemade breads such as the Classic Ciabatta, Sundried Tomato Foccaccia, Crispy Olive Bread, and an assortment of Grissini Sticks and Lavosh served in generous portions are baked daily.   The food is perfectly paired with a sophisticated collection of over 60 types of Italian and international wines.

Indulge in specialties like the Trio of Salmon appetiser with Norwegian salmon, black olives tapenade, capers berry, flax seed crackers and avocado ice cream; the Favola Salad with baby spinach, endive, fennel, radicchio, semi-dried cherry tomatoes, rye bread, crispy parmesan and pomegranate dressing, the well-loved Mushroom Soup with combination of Porcini and white mushrooms with truffle butter; and pastas such as the Squid Ink Tonnarelli with prawns, scallops, mussels, clams, squid and lobster toasted with olive oil, garlic, cherry tomatoes, fresh basil and dry chilies wrapped in foil and baked in the oven; or the Scallop and Leek Ravioli with garlic, tomato sauce, and basil pesto.

Enjoy a main course of signature Black Angus or Wagyu steaks, rack of lamb; the ambitious Mixed Grill Platter, a serving of lamb chop, chicken fillet, beef tenderloin, sausages, zucchini and sautéed potatoes; or the Veal Ossobucco, a succulent dish of braised veal shank served with saffron risotto and gremolata.

For dessert, consider the Classic Tiramisu, or White Chocolate Strawberry Panna Cotta with red wine berry compote and capsicum confit; or the Warm Pear Crumble Tart with a serving of Haagen dazs vanilla ice cream and cinnamon sauce.

Favola seats 56 guests, with a private room that offers options for small dinner parties and an al fresco balcony that caters to those who love dining outdoors.  The restaurant opens from Monday to Sunday, from 12.00pm to 2.30pm for lunch and 6.00pm to 10.30pm for dinner from Monday to Friday from 6:00pm – 10:30pm.

Discover passion for Italian dining at Favola where classic flavours of regional cuisine and great stories are shared.  Call +088 322 398 for reservations or visit www.lemeridienkotakinabalu.com or follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
