Celebrity couple Akim & Stacy travel to Dubai for their honeymoon with ASTRO TV’s ‘Romantika Raya’

July 8, 2016 by StrawberrY Gal

This May, Malaysia’s beloved celebrity couple Akim Ahmad and Stacy Anam spent a romantic honeymoon holiday in Dubai, the world’s 4th most visited destination in 2015. The couple had an amazing time exploring the latest attractions and learning about the local culture of Dubai. Fans will now have a chance to share the happy couple’s joy on July 10 (5 Syawal), when the ‘Romantika Raya’ travelogue programme debuts on ASTRO RIA (Channel 104) and ASTRO RIA HD (Channel 123). Proudly presented by Dubai Tourism, in partnership with the ASTRO TV Network, viewers can even follow in the footsteps of Akim and Stacy by joining the “4D3N Discover Dubai” tour package tailor made by Amar Travel & Tours.

“It was an incredible honeymoon for us. We would like to thank Dubai Tourism, ASTRO and Amar Travel for bringing us such an unforgettable experience in Dubai. We had great fun meeting the penguins, swimming with dolphins, visiting the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo in the Dubai Mall and shopping at the traditional markets for Abayas and traditional Middle Eastern food. We appreciated the warm hospitality from the people of Dubai and were amazed at how affordable products and activities were, which both surprised and delighted us,” says Stacy.

Akim also added, “I admire how the modern city of Dubai also has a traditional and natural side to offer. The sunset in the desert was breathtaking and the most exciting part of it was the sand-dune bashing, which we had never experienced before. The view from the observation deck of the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa, impressed us hugely – we were able to see the beautiful landscape of Dubai as far as the Palm Island!” When asked whether they will visit again, he said: “we will definitely visit Dubai again in the future. There are many attractions that families with kids would love.”

In the Romantika Raya programme, viewers will have a glimpse of Akim and Stacy’s honeymoon holiday in Dubai, where they share their love story from the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa, dash through snowy mountains in the middle of the desert, enjoy a magical moment at the Dubai Fountain and marvel at sparkling jewels in old-world souks. Viewers will also learn more about the couple’s change of routine after marriage, and how they will celebrate their first Raya together.

During the filming, Akim and Stacy visited a number of places of interest, including the desert with safari tour, Ski Dubai with a “Peng-Friend encounter”, Dolphin Bay at Atlantis The Palm, Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding (SMCCU), Al Fahidi Historical District, Gold Souk and Spice Souk, The Dubai Mall, The Dubai Fountain, Burj Khalifa, Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo and Wild Wadi Waterpark at Jumeirah Beach Hotel. Romantic accommodation was provided by The Meydan Hotel, with dinners at Olea at Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates, Moana Seafood Restaurant at Sofitel the Palm, Dubai and Ayamna Lebanese Restaurant at Atlantis The Palm. (See Appendix: A guide to follow Akim and Stacy’s footsteps)

Nurul Azrin Mhd Nasir, producer of ASTRO said, “We were excited to work with Dubai Tourism to showcase many interesting attractions in Dubai through the development of the Romantika programme. Coupled with Dubai Tourism and Amar Travel’s expertise, the celebrity couple’s itinerary was crafted to perfection, taking Malaysian travelers’ interests and preferences into consideration. Akim and Stacy’s genuine, romantic honeymoon in Dubai will be a programme all Malaysians can look forward to during the Syawal celebrations.”

The Romantika Raya Dubai episode will debut on July 10 in Bahasa Malaysia, as the second of the Romantika Raya series of six episodes, on ASTRO channels ASTRO RIA (Channel 104) and ASTRO RIA HD (Channel 123). Catch the Romantika Raya programme at the following times:
