RENAISSANCE HOTELS GEARS UP FOR FIFTH ANNUAL GLOBAL DAY OF DISCOVERY ON JUNE 16

May 25, 2016 By StrawberrY Gal - Event Leave a Comment

Renaissance Hotels, the global lifestyle brand known for helping travellers make the most of their life on the road, will host its fifth annual Global Day of Discovery on June 16, 2016. In bringing Renaissance Hotels’ ‘Business Unusual’ brand promise to life, nearly 170 Renaissance Hotels worldwide will help guests discover genuine local experiences in and around Renaissance hotels.

Global Day of Discovery activities are as diverse and intriguing as the locations. Covering all facets of local culture, the evening events range from a themed party in a Beijing Hutong, to an art installation and a hotel lobby transformed into a floating market. To discover local hotspots, Renaissance experts called Navigators will bring guests to discover the neighbourhood. As varied as the experiences are, they will all feature Renaissance Hotels’ signature Bar Ritual, inviting guests to taste the most authentic flavours in the city.

Some of the Global Day of Discovery events taking place at Renaissance Hotels in Asia include:

Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel: To mark the Global Day of Discovery, the hotel will replicate Bangkok’s famous Amphawa Floating Market in the lobby, transforming the space into an interactive hub of activity. Guests can indulge in Thai delicacies, including Pad Thai and Som-Tum (Papaya Salad), and Bangkok-inspired refreshments such as the Mekong Punch and Kwan Riem cocktails. While local artists sketch caricatures and demonstrate the traditional skills of glass blowing and fruit carving, Bangkok DJs Burin and Gift OKB will lift the party mood with energetic grooves.

Renaissance Beijing Wangfujing Hotel: Chinese gastronomy and glamour are on offer at the ‘One Night in Beijing’ event. Blending classic and contemporary cultures, guests will discover one of Beijing’s famous Hutongs within the hotel and experience authentic cuisine, cool cocktails and the best in live entertainment. A runway show will also highlight emerging local artists and the latest cutting-edge fashions.

Renaissance Tianjin Lakeview Hotel:  A memorable lakeside setting, hot music, cool drinks and local cuisine come together to create Tianjin’s Endless Summer party. Aside from a picture-perfect setting, guests can look forward to DJs, live acts, a selection of cocktails, and culinary surprises as well as pop-up shops promoting locally-made art and crafts.

Renaissance Suzhou Hotel: In Partnership with Suzhou Village, a retail haven and a city landmark, Renaissance Suzhou Hotel has planned an intriguing evening of prizes and surprises. The lineup includes live painting demonstrations from Suzhou-based artists as well as performances from local bands and DJs. Guests can sample traditional dishes and the hotel’s signature cocktails, participate in a Village-wide puzzle game, find inspiration at a Red Guard fashion show, or engage with traditional craftsmen using centuries-old techniques to make popcorn and intricate figures from sugar and dough.

Renaissance Phuket Resort & Spa: Committed to showcasing Thai artisans, ingredients and craftsmanship, the hotel will host a tour of Phuket’s Chalong Bay Rum distillery. The distillery partners with local farmers and uses sustainable techniques to produce handcrafted rum that is exported around the world. Together with a tour of the world-renowned distillery, guests will enjoy fresh seafood, a barbeque, Chalong Bay cocktails and music from a local band.
