Marina Bay Sands’ celebrity chefs Tetsuya Wakuda from Waku Ghin and David Thompson from Long Chim were once again honoured at the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2016 awards held last night.
Waku Ghin by Tetsuya Wakuda has climbed to the 6th position this year, its best showing since the restaurant debuted on the list in 2013 at 11th place. This marks Waku Ghin’s fourth consecutive win by in this annual ranking of top restaurants in Asia. Last year, Chef Tetsuya also received top honors by winning The Diners Club® Lifetime Achievement Award for his life-long dedication to the industry.
The prestigious 2016 awards list also sees celebrity chef David Thompson of Long Chim at Marina Bay Sands being the recipient of The Diners Club® Lifetime Achievement Award. The Australian-born chef is renowned for his authority on Thai cuisine, with his award-winning restaurants Nahm in Bangkok and Long Chim at Marina Bay Sands.
The Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants are voted by members of The Diners Club® Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy, comprising over 300 leaders in the restaurant and culinary industries throughout Asia.
This win comes shortly after Forbes Travel Guide 2016 recognized celebrity chef restaurants Waku Ghin, Osteria Mozza and CUT by Wolfgang Puck as the top restaurants in Singapore for the second year in a row. Marina Bay Sands Hotel and Banyan Tree Spa, Marina Bay Sands were also honoured in the prestigious listing.
