PUTRAJAYA ISLAMIC TOURS FESTIVAL 2015 (PIT FEST)

According to Islamic Tourism Centre Malaysia, Islamic tourism is increasingly growing its potential worldwide. It represents the biggest and rewarding untapped niche market in global tourism particularly the Muslim travelers. Traditionally, Islamic tourism means religious travel such as Hajj and Umrah pilgrimage. However, over the years, this term has expanded to include Muslims who travel for the purpose of business and leisure.

“Realizing on this new development in the world of Islamic tourism, it has urged Putrajaya International Convention Centre to cater to the needs of this growing market segment by introducing Putrajaya Islamic Tours Festival 2015 @ PICC,” said Dato’ Badlishah Hj Ahmad, Chief Executive Officer of Putrajaya International Convention Centre Sdn Bhd.

The ceremony was officiated by YB Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Culture of Malaysia. The event was also attended by  Tourism and Culture Ministry’s Tourism Licensing Division Secretary, Pn. Nor Yahati Awang, YBhg. Dato’ Haji Mohamed Zain Zakaria (Chairman Koperasi Usahawan Haji, Umrah Selangor Berhad) and Mr. Usaid Ghassan Yaseen (Director Light 7 Sdn Bhd).  Putrajaya Islamic Tours Festival 2015 or PIT Fest will be held from 28 – 30 August 2015 at PICC. It will be the one and only event that features muslim tours in Malaysia highlighting many booths consisting of travel agencies and travel-related agents participating throughout the three days festival.

The inaugural event is aimed to be a platform for local travel agencies to introduce Islamic tourism products mainly in Malaysia and internationally as a whole. This will also include Umrah and Hajj tour packages by local agencies.

Apart from that, there will be other attractive activities happening. It includes a seminar by a panel of international guest speakers such as Ismail Menk and Bilal Philips during the Daily Reminder Conference. In addition, the Road 2 Harmain also provides educational opportunities for the public concerned like Simulation Mini Kaabah, sale and exhibition of Islamic Banking and Insurance, and Information Technology in Hajj and Umrah. The visitors will be exposed to the role of Media in Hajj & Umrah industry and Community Social Media in Hajj & Umrah agencies and there are a series of lectures from invited agencies. Those who wish to expand business to Saudi Arabia also invited to attend this festival.

PIT Fest 2015 is supported by Putrajaya Corporation, Ministry of Tourism & Culture, Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board or Tourism Malaysia and Koperasi Usahawan Umrah Selangor.
