EMS DISCOVERIA AND AVENUE K TREAT 100 CHILDREN FROM TWO SHELTER HOMES TO DINO EXHIBITION IN CONJUNCTION WITH RAMADAN

July 2, 2015 by StrawberrY Gal

70 children from Rumah Titian Kasih and 30 children from Rumah Kebajikan Mary and their minders recently enjoyed a special educational excursion to Dinoscovery by Dinosaurs Live!  courtesy of EMS Discoveria and Avenue K Shopping Mall.

The charity activity was organized in conjunction with Avenue K’s launch of “Nostalgia Sinema” buka puasa buffet on the AK rooftop. At the event, the children were taken on a grand tour of Dinoscovery.

Decked in beige-coloured paleontologist’s vests and armed with RFID bands, maps and torches, the children partook in a scavenger hunt whilst exploring the many animatronic dinosaurs and interactive attractions in the 14,000 sqft exhibition which includes climbing a wall to view the Pteranodon’s nest, excavating fossils in a specially-created sandpit and Race-A-Therapod.

The young visitors also had the opportunity to watch a documentary on the evolution of dinosaurs in a 3D cinema and learnt about particular types of dinosaurs through edutainment kiosks. Upon completion of the Dino Quest, the children received expert and junior paleontologist certificates. Group photos in various Mesozoic settings were also presented as mementos of their visit.

Lee Yew Jin, General Manager of EMS Discoveria Sdn Bhd remarked, “In the spirit of Ramadan and as a caring corporate citizen, we are happy to give and engage communities in need in entertainment and education of pre-historic creatures, science and natural history.”

Gina Subki, Head of Social Media and PR for Avenue K added, “EMS  Discoveria has made this Ramadan event special by hosting these kids from underprivileged backgrounds as they have the opportunity to take home not only great memories of a wonderful day out but new knowledge from the exhibition.”

The evening ended with Avenue K and Kafe Skrin treating the children to a sumptuous buka puasa feast of roast lamb, murtabak, biryani and a slew of classic Malay movies in an alfresco setting against the beautiful KL city skyline.

Dinoscovery by Dinosaurs Live! is an on-going interactive edutainment exhibition in Avenue K, KL. For more information, call 03 2181 7218, log on to www.discoveria.com.my or visit https://www.facebook.com/discoveria.kl.
