Chili Espresso is located in Nexus Bangsar brings you with the no fuss, wholesome and full Malaysian heritage and western dining. With the beautiful inspired art on the wall, Chili Espresso had captured my heart when I entered the restaurant.

The inspiration of Chili Espresso, Nexus is bringing the Penang Heritage live in Bangsar. Mr Robert, the owner of Chili Espresso says “Being born in Penang, he would like to bring back the popular street art back here. The design is based on old pre war shop houses alley or “lorong” with children eating noodles under a frangipani tree. It flows to a more recent colonial styled building where their coffee bar is.

The alfresco area is designed with a backyard feel with trees, plans, and furniture which is made of old railway sleepers. Recycled wood, old drums, bottles, can and wooden boxes are use for friendliness. The art is drawn by DrewFunk who is the

We had the Chicken Mango Jicama Salad (Small: RM 9.80/ Large : RM 14.80) which is simply appetizing. A delicious healthy salad available in Chili Espresso is served with the chicken, sweet mango, jicama (sengkwang), tofu pok, snow pea sprouts, roasted sesame in tangy hoi sin sauce and mixed herbs. The dish comes simply appetizing and it is such a healthy delights to go for.

Aside from the Chicken Mango Jicama Salad, another salad which is a good one is the Apple, Chicken & Rocket Salad (Small: RM 9.80/ Large : RM 13.80) is served with the mixed salad, cherry tomato, kalamata olive, toasted walnut and citrus dressing. The Chicken Mango Salad brings us with the appetizing blend of taste with the touch of zestiness in it.

As for the main, we had the Fried Mee Mamak (RM 17.80) where you can enjoy the hot and spicy sensation is served with the prawns, potato, peanut, cucur and squid which is one of the popular street delights in Malaysia. The portion comes simply generous with loads of ingredients in it and every mouthful gives us a umph in its taste.

I am falling in love with the homey dish – The Herbal Nasi Cina Kampong ( Ulam Rice) ( RM 16.80) which is originated from Kelantan. The ulam rice which is rich with the condiments and herbs in it comes deliciously good. It is served together with the red chili pickled green papaya, long beans and sambal belachan. Served together with it is the fried kunyit chicken with the tomato rempah sauce. This is indeed a good huge portion to go for.

Aside from the delicious Asian delights, Chili Espresso also brings us with Western delights too. The Char- Grilled Aussie Beef Burger (RM 16.80) is one of the recommendations there. The in-house made patty using the Australian beef is a special one compare the usual burger we had. It have the bites of meat in the patty itself and it is well marinated with their homemade sauce. Served together with the caramelized onions, mayo herb sauce, salad as well as fries. For more delicious sensation, topped your burger with cedar cheese with just RM 3.00

The Double Cooked Duck Linguine (RM 17.80) is served with the slow duck in spiced stock and tossed with linguine, herbs, arugula, oven dried cherry tomato and chili flakes. Cooked al-dente, the duck is well compliments with the pasta itself.

We ended with the delicious homemade cake – the Apple Banana Crumble (RM 6.80) which brings us with the sweet ending.

Overall, Chili Espresso is a great place for some locals delights with affordable price. Not just that, they have a nice coffee too. If you are a big fans of local delights with a kick of good coffee, Chili Espresso could be your choice of dining experience.
