X2 RIVER KWAI IS LAUNCHING JOURNEY TO THE PAST PACKAGE

February 9, 2015 by StrawberrY Gal

The best way to learn history is to see it through your eyes. X2 River Kwai would like to take you back in time with its Journey to the Past package. It includes an accommodation of your choice, daily Champagne Breakfast, a day trip to visit the main tourist attractions, 15% discount on food & beverage and complimentary roundtrip transfer to/from Kanchanaburi train station. The day trip includes transfer to the Bridge over the River Kwai, WWII museum, Don Rak War cemetery and Kanchanaburi train station for a local train ride.

Visit the real locations of the notorious Thai-Burma Railway built during WWII when the Japanese soldiers used the town as a base camp for the POWs. The story was featured in the 1957 Hollywood produced movie “The Bridge on the River Kwai” which won 7 academy awards and the 2014 “The Railway Man” which was shot mainly in the actual locations in Kanchanaburi. The province is also known for its natural attractions such as forests, mountains, caves and waterfalls.

Guests may wish to travel by train from Bangkok along the famous railway to Kanchanburi town. The scenic journey takes around 2 hours 30 minutes from Thon Buri Station, Bangkok (near to Sirirat Hospital) to Kanchanaburi Station located next to Bridge over the River Kwai. Train tickets can be booked at the train station on the day of travel. The Journey to the Past package includes complimentary roundtrip transfer to/from Kanchanaburi train station and resort. There are two recommended trains each day. The 257 morning train departs from Thon Buri, Bangkok at 07.50 and arrives at Kanchanaburi Station at 10.25, while the 259 afternoon train departs Thon Buri, Bangkok at 13.55 and arrives at Kanchanaburi Station at 16.24. For the return journey guests are recommended to take the 258 afternoon return departing Kanchanaburi at 14.48 arriving at Thon Buri, Bangkok 17.40 or the  260 morning return departing Kanchanaburi at 07.19 arriving at Thon Buri, Bangkok 10.25. See details on traveling by train at http://x2resorts.com/resorts/river-kwai/contact/.

X2 River Kwai is situated just 2 hours west of Bangkok. The resort is easily accessible by various transportation means, and is conveniently located near many famous tourist attractions including the Bridge over the River Kwai, WWII Museum & Art Gallery, Don Rak War Cemetery and Thai-Burma Railway Museum. For golf lovers, there are several 18 holes championship golf courses (Evergreen Hill, Grand Prix, Mida) within 45 kilometers distance.
