TWO STARWOOD HOTELS & RESORTS IN MALAYSIA TAKE HOME 14 AWARDS AT THE RECENT MALAYSIA INTERNATIONAL GOURMET FESTIVAL (MIGF) 2014

December 1, 2014 by StrawberrY Gal

The 14th Malaysia International Gourmet Festival (MIGF) – one of the region’s most celebrated and eagerly anticipated food events, took place from 1 to 31 October 2014 with the theme RED HOT CHEFS! All through October, 28 of the country’s best restaurants served up special Festival menus at special Festival prices together with a host of generous Festival offers.

On 6 Nov 2014, participating restaurants vied for the top places in 35 different categories at the MIGF’s 14th annual awards ceremony that took place at the Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur. Starwood Hotels & Resorts Malaysia shined once again when nominated as best in 14 categories that evening.

Participating for the second time with its signature dining venue – Nook, the Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral brought home 2 People’s Choice Awards including Most Creative Food Presentation and Most Creative Restaurant Station, 2 Judges’ Choice Award for Most Creative Food Presentation and Most Innovative Cuisine as well as Most Outstanding Starter – Cold for its Marinated Sea Conch, Octopus and Sea Urchin Roe in Coconut Kerabu with Fiddlehead Fern in the Diners’ Choice Awards at the gala finale. Led by Executive Sous Chef Rozaiman, the hotel did extremely well following its success last year.

While participating for the third time,Seasonal Tastes at The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa, the only participating restaurant from outside Kuala Lumpur, and Sous Chef Syahir Ismail got into the action as Seasonal Tastes received 6 Diners’ Choice Awards for Best Use of the Festival Theme, Best Value Menu of the Festival, Most Outstanding Dining Experience, Most Outstanding Service Team, Most Outstanding Starter – Cold and Most Outstanding Wine Pairing. Apart from that, the team also flew back with 2 Judges’ Choice Awards for Best Marketed Restaurant and Most Creative Food Presentation.

A pleasant surprise greeted The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa towards the end of the event as a Special MIGF Festival Award was awarded to Seasonal Tastes for Most Outstanding Overall Festival

Experience as the establishment that, in the view of the judges, presented the most outstanding overall festival experience to diners and guests. These awards and recognitions are testament to the diversity of culinary excellence the Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral and The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa have to offer and at the same time providing an extraordinary level of service which would not have been possible without the effort and support of each hotel’s team.

Situated in the new business hub of Kuala Lumpur, Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral is the largest Aloft Hotel in the world and is right next door to Kuala Lumpur Sentral Station, the largest railway station in South East Asia. This 482 room hotel is only a 28-minute train ride to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. For more information or reservations, please call 1 800 80 6575 or visit
