HULLETT HOUSE PRESENTS OLD HONG KONG AFTERNOON TEA

July 23, 2014 by StrawberrY Gal

Hong Kong’s iconic heritage hotel Hullett House is delighted to announce the launch of “Old Hong Kong Afternoon Tea” at The Parlour that is reminiscent of Hong Kong’s vibrant past. The tea set will bring back wonderful, collective childhood memories for guests to re-experience the long-lost flavours and aromas of yesteryear.

Hullett House’s Executive Chef, Chef On, has tailored a dedicated “Old Hong Kong Afternoon Tea” appealing to tourists and locals alike. This afternoon tea menu features hand-made mini pineapple buns, cocktail buns, paper wrapped cupcakes, egg sandwiches, Chinese doughnuts, French toast served with signature black garlic blueberry jam, freshly baked sweetheart cake (also known as “wife cake”), deep fried blue shrimp toast, as well as bird’s nest and egg white tarts. Every element in creating this local favourites menu has been truly bespoke, including Hong Kong’s very own Silky Milk Tea.

Being a rich celebration of “East meets West” heritage in Hong Kong, The Parlour also serves the “Hullett House Afternoon Tea”, a classic English afternoon tea set that includes an exquisite selection of classic finger sandwiches: cucumber, smoked salmon, and egg salad served between fluffy white bread that melt in your mouth. Tender scones served with clotted cream and seasonal jams are prepared in house daily, and bite-sized desserts such as macarons, heart-shaped white chocolate and lychee mousse, and fruit tarts are also included. Last but not least, the signature Hullett House Blended Tea has been exclusively crafted to our specifications, ensuring an authentically memorable experience.

Inspired by the combination of Victorian colonial and neo-classical architectural designs of the former Marine Police Headquarters, the “Old Hong Kong Afternoon Tea” invites guests to indulge in the nostalgia of having a traditional Hong Kong style high tea on a spacious balcony that captures the abundance of natural light. Antique ceiling fans and lights complement this historic building’s unique style and personality. Imagine yourself on a romantic Victorian style balcony, sipping coffee and overlooking the gorgeous Time Ball Tower that transcends time to bring you back to old Hong Kong.
