It was a head-start for Dorsett Hospitality International (HKEx Stock Code: 2266) in the new Lunar year of Horse when it had its annual dinner cum award night at Dorsett Grand Subang recently.
Themed to Red and Gold colours which symbolically represent ‘Prosperity’ and ‘Wealth’, the event was held to thank the hotels’ associates from Malaysia and Singapore for their contributions to the company’s rapid growth and to award those who have distinctly shined in the course of their employment.
This year, seven associates received the ‘Star of the Year Awards’ recognitions whilst five ‘Leader of the Year Awards’ titles were awarded to deserving associates.
Judged based ‘dedication on job’, ‘passion to go beyond the extra mile in completing given tasks’, ‘self-initiative’ as well as ‘relationship with other team members,’ the ‘Star of the Year Awards’ recipients were: Ricco Victor Underwood – Commis at Dorsett Grand Labuan; Noor Zakiah Md Nor – Uniform Attendant at Dorsett Grand Subang; Pelisa Gairis – Waitress at Dorsett Grand Labuan; Navin Napolean – Front Office Assistant at Silka Johor Bahru; Roselind Lahong – Food & Beverage Captain at Silka Maytower Hotel & Serviced Residences; Amelia Noor Hidaya binti Jusof – Reservation Assistant at Silka Maytower Hotel & Serviced Residences; Mohd Ismail Bin Ahmad – Front Office Bellman at Dorsett Regency Kuala Lumpur and Mohd Sabri Bin Norizan – Chef de Partie-Pastry at Dorsett Regency KL.
Meanwhile, the ‘Leader of the Year Awards’ were awarded to Joluin Joiruh – Chief Engineer of Dorsett Grand Labuan; Roshidee Sheik Abu Bakar – Outlet Manager of Dorsett Grand Subang; Zulrina Bte Mohd Zain – Account Executive of Silka Johor Bahru; Mohd Zain bin Yacob – Assistant Food & Beverage Manager of Silka Maytower Hotel & Serviced Residences and Janie Chai – Assistant Director of Sales Dorsett Regency Kuala Lumpur.
Recipients were judged based on their ‘contribution to the division’s growth’, ‘self-initiative to lead and drive the team to produce better results’ and last but not least, ‘to develop the company’s brand image, revenue and profits to greater level’.
Present to give away the awards was Dorsett International’s President and Executive Director, Winnie Chiu, while witnessed by the Group’s Chairman, Tan Sri Dato’ David Chiu and Vice Chairman – Malaysia, Datin Jasmine Abdullah Heng.
VIP guests present to enhance the evening were Vice Chairman of Mayland Group of Companies, Puan Sri Nancy Chiu, Group Managing Director of Mayland Group of Companies, Andrew Chiu, Chairman of Land & General Berhad, Dato’ Zainal Abidin Putih. Both Mayland Group of Companies and Land & General Berhad are sister companies of Dorsett Hospitality International.
Coupled with lively golden lion dance performances, a special appearance of ‘God of Prosperity’ and Shaolin Acrobatic performance, Tan Sri Dato’ David Chiu, Puan Sri Datin Nancy Chiu and Winnier Chiu made the party merrier through red packets giveaway.
