KFC DELIVERY FIRST IN MALAYSIA TO USE ECO-FRIENDLY SCOOTERS

November 11, 2013 by StrawberrY Gal

KFC Delivery takes the lead in the Malaysian Quick Service Restaurant delivery sector using eco-friendly electric scooters which are 100% environmentally friendly – zero CO2, smoke emission and noise pollution.

Lower in operation costs along with its sturdy design, the new eco-friendly vehicle is set to increase KFC Delivery’s speed and quality of service ensuring customers receive hot and fresh food and at the same time reduce its carbon footprint.

“We would like to take the lead in the Malaysian Quick Service Restaurant Delivery Sector by using Eco-Friendly transport through electric scooters which are 100% environmentally friendly. This is in line with our efforts to do our part to conserve energy at every operating stage and to be as environmentally responsible as possible,” said Datuk Ahmad Zaki Zahid, Managing Director, QSR Brands (M) Holdings Sdn Bhd, at the signing ceremony here today.

Datuk Nurhalim Yunus, CEO, Malaysian Technology Development Corporation Sdn Bhd (MTDC) witnessed the signing ceremony between KFC (Peninsular Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and Eclimo Sdn Bhd, a Green Tech Electric Vehicle Company.

To date, KFC Delivery utilizes 50 eco-friendly scooters and plans to have more in the coming year.

“Other than being the number one choice when it comes to delicious fried chicken, we are also aiming on building customer loyalty based on ethical values of integrity and best practices. At KFC, we are always looking to innovate not just our food but also our service and the new eco-friendly delivery service fits the bill perfectly,” Ahmad Zaki added.

Electric scooters are plug-in electric vehicles with two or three wheels that can be recharged from any external source of electricity. The electricity is stored on board in a rechargeable battery that powers one or more electric motors to attain locomotion.

Director, Eclimo Sdn Bhd Liew Chung Peng said, the Eclimo ES11 runs completely on electricity, and there is absolutely zero CO2 and smoke emission making them the greenest rides in town.

“It is our vision that everyone in the world will own an electric vehicle, leading to a healthier and greener future, and we are very glad to work with KFC Delivery in ensuring that delivery is done without polluting the environment,” said Liew.

There are currently 41 stores that are mainly in the Klang Valley area that offer KFC Delivery services with an additional 9 more planned to be opened by the end of the year. KFC Delivery will continue to expand and have a wider coverage extending to other states in the near future.
