THE BEAUTIFUL VISIT TO NANYA PECULIAR ROCK & JINGUASHI

June 20, 2013 by StrawberrY Gal

Here comes our next destination which is the Nanya Peculiar Rock (南雅海岸). The visit there is indeed a eye opening and the place is simply beautiful one.

– The Nanya Peculiar Rock (南雅海岸)-

The Nanya Pecicular Rock is where the rocks are layered, sandstone rocks near the fishing village of Nanya on Taiwan’s northeast coast have been eroded into peculiar shapes by a combination of water and wind. The rock contains iron oxide, which causes the colourful streaks.

The scenery there is simply beautiful and the rock formation is really nice and great. The rocks are amazingly beautiful which the texture and the formation.
– The scenery-
The scenery with the lovely blue sky is simply make me fell in love with it and the place is one of my recommendations as the formation is different from Yehliu Geopark.
– The Fish Formation-
what we see?Another nice formation. It is the FISH .. do you notice that? Another style of formation which is simply different. Not long after the place, there is another peculiar sea which is called the  Ying- Yang Sea (陰陽海) where the water is permenantly is a mix of 2 color which is the yellow and blue color.
– The Ying Yang Sea(陰陽海)-

It was initially believed that the sea color was the result of pollution from Taiwan Metal Mining Corp’s smelting activities. But, over 10 years after the company had stopped its activities, Yin-yang Sea still exists. Scholars say that the Jinguashi geology has a large amount of pyrite that, after millions of years has formed Fe3+ which does no dissolve easily in water. This forms iron ion floating particles when it flows into the sea, resulting in the strange sight of the Yin-yang Sea.

After looking at the beautiful sea, we heads up and stopped at the Golden Waterfall which and we stopped at 2 stops where we saw the beautiful waterfall water flows to down on the hill and the formation of the 2 color water where one side is golden color and another is refreshing plain water flowing down which is making to two colors water.

-Golden Waterfall (黄金瀑布)-
– Another view of the Golden Waterfall (黄金瀑布)-

Then, we heads up to the mountain to enjoy the scenic view of the whole waterfall. The waterfalls are looking so beautiful and alot of couples come here for their wedding shots too and we spotted a pair of them.

– The Waterfall (黄金瀑布)-

The substantial Jinguashi rainfall seeps into the mine shafts through cracks in the surface rock, becoming acidulous water after interacting with the pyrite and energite underground and undergoing oxidation reduction. A natural wonder “Gold Waterfall (黄金瀑布)” has formed where the terrain drops sharply. This is one of the sources of the Yin-yang Sea. ( from Wikitravel)

– The Waterfall (黄金瀑布)-
– The  nearer view of the Waterfall (黄金瀑布)-

We had finished our trip here to enjoy the scenic scenery of the waterfall itself. The tourguide brought us to afar to get the view of the whole Jinguashi (金瓜石) where we can see from above till down.

– The view of Ying Yang Sea from above-

This ends our trip here in Jinguashi (金瓜石) and our next destination will be the Old Town of Jiufen (九份)

Getting There:

(from Wikitravel)Highway System: – The No.2 Provincial Route is the main connection between Taipei, Keelong and Ilan, secondary connections includes route 102, 106, North 34, North 35, and North 37 county routes, most of which are double lane mixed vehicle roads.Rail System: – The main rail system is the Longitudinal Ilan Rail System (Taipei Padu- Rueifang- Ilan- Suao) (http://www.railway.gov.tw/en/index/index.aspx)Mass Transportation: – The main forms of mass transportation includes Taiwan Motor Transport Co.
