Shang Palace at Kowloon Shangri-La Receives Two Michelin Stars Again

December 3, 2017 by StrawberrY Gal

Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong announces that Shang Palace has again been awarded two stars in the 2018 edition of the Michelin Guide for Hong Kong and Macau, making it the Chinese restaurant’s tenth year to receive the coveted star rating.

The rating is based on five criteria – the quality of products, value for money, mastery of flavour and cooking, the “personality” of the cuisine and consistency between visits.  The Michelin two-star accolade denotes excellent cooking worthy of a detour.

Renowned for its Cantonese cuisine, Shang Palace delivers traditional and creative dishes that evoke the grandeur of traditional China, artistically prepared by the experienced culinary team.

“I am so proud of being a part of the dedicated Shang Palace culinary team.  To be able to maintain this prestigious recognition, in a way reflecting our consistency in delivering high-standard quality, is an honour and a huge achievement for us.  We spare no effort in delighting our guests,” said Chef Long-yin Cheung, the Executive Chinese Chef of Shang Palace.

“We are very proud to be honoured by the Michelin Guide with a two-star rating again,” said Philip Dewar, General Manager of Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong.  “It is truly a wonderful acknowledgement for our dedicated team to have its efforts recognised and rewarded.  I would especially like to congratulate Chef Mok & Chef Cheung for their commitment and creativity, and our experienced team   of Chinese chefs, many of whom have been working at Shang Palace for 10 to 20 years, for ensuring Shang Palace’s culinary excellence.  This laurel signifies that we not only maintain consistently high standards, but also strive to meet the even higher expectations of our local supporters and international travellers.”

Lavishly decorated in auspicious red and gold with traditional motifs imported from China, Shang Palace offers a range of dim sum, set lunch and à la carte menus for lunch from noon until 2:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, and from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays. Offering a range of set dinner and à la carte menus to tempt the discerning palate, the restaurant opens daily for dinner from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m.  A tea master and resident sommelier are on hand to guide diners through the extensive range of premium teas and wines, and to help them with pairing.
