LAFITE AT SHANGRI-LA HOTEL, KUALA LUMPUR PRESENTS THE BEST OF SOUTH-WEST FRANCE

August 14, 2014 by StrawberrY Gal

Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur proposes the best of South-west France at Lafite.

South-west France, stretching from Languedoc to Aquitaine, Landes and Basque Country towards Spain, is lush, hilly wine country and also a region famous for its produce.  Some of its well-known products are the duck from Landes, the sweet piquillo pepper, Aquitaine’s caviar and Pommes Sarladaise or potatoes cooked in duck fat.

The region is home to more than two dozen wine-making appellations.  Some of the world’s great grape varieties originated here, with some lesser known varieties grown nowhere else. Wines from Madiran and Jurancon, and the Grenache wines from Languedoc are highly regarded.

From 25 August to 6 September 2014, Lafite at Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur will hold a food and wine promotion that focuses on South-west France.

Lafite’s chef de cuisine, Jean-Philippe Guiard, has prepared menus of three, four and six courses to showcase the best of South-west France.

The six-course menu begins with Salade Landaise with Smoked Duck Breast, Duck Liver Terrine, Roasted Croutons and Corn, Duck Jus and Truffle Vinaigrette.  This is followed by Sweet Red Pepper stuffed with Cod Brandade, Red Pepper and Tomato Coulis, and Parmesan Tuile.

Garlic and Onion Soup, Poached Oyster and Aquitaine’s Caviar is served before the main course of Roasted Duck Breast, Pan-Fried Duck Liver, Potato, Onion, Porcini Sarladaise and Natural Jus.

Finally, it is time to savour a sheep’s milk cheese famous in South-west France – Ossau-Iraty Cheese with Black Cherry Jam.

The dinner ends with a dessert of Apple, Prune and Armagnac Warm Croustade and Roasted Apple Sherbet.

This scrumptious six-course menu is priced at RM330++ and RM480++ with wine pairing (five wines).

The four-course and three-course menus are a variation of the six-course menu.  The four-course menu is priced at RM280++ and RM400++ with wines.  The three-course menu is priced at RM230++ and RM330++ with wines.
