KARI GUYS @ LUCKY GARDEN BANGSAR

August 13, 2014 by StrawberrY Gal

After the success of their opening in Raub and a stall in Kedai Kopi Do Re Mi at Ara Damansara, Kari Guys had extended their wings to have their own shop now at Lucky Garden Bangsar. The Indian family who has had a restaurant in Raub selling this curry sembalit is gone more far than a stall and they are having their new shop –“KariGuys” which had just opened in Lucky Garden.

Started all the way from Raub, their famous item will be their Kari Chicken Sempalit is at the top of the menu, followed by the Sempalit Fried Chicken, Sempalit Mutton Peratal and Fishhead Curry. Grab some vegetables to go along with the pipping hot fried chicken or the wonderful temptations of kari chicken.

We started with the Tenggiri Fish Curry which comes well balanced on its spiciness as it is just nice for those who cant take spicy delights. The curry comes pretty good with light spiciness in it. The curry is well cooked with all the special blend of spiciness which includes the dried chilies, cumin, coriander and cinnamon together with the curry leaves and coconut milk with it. The curry is just nice to go together with rice, roti canai or evrn with toast. Well, not enough curry you can get a pipping hot bowl of curry for free at the counter too.

Next, we had the Sempalit Fried Chicken which comes crispy and well fried till golden brown. Complete with the marinate them with the spices for 12 hours before deep frying them, you will rest assured that the fried chicken is loaded with flavors in it. Juicy meat in the inside with the crispy skin. It’s finger lickering good.

Aside from the Sempalit Curry Chicken, the curry comes pretty milky as not too spicy. Alike the Chinese style of curry, the blend of curry comes lighter and the spiciness is toned down too. It is not very thick in the curry itself but the sempalit curry chicken is rather good to be dipped with some buns.

As for the sotong sambal, the taste was rather nice too. Chewy texture of squids with the light kick of spiciness is something to look for here.

As for the Sempalit Mutton Peratal; the gravy comes pretty thick with the chunks of meat which is being served together makes the taste awesome. It’s blend is as good as it is and it is well cooked in style.

We also had some vegetables there and some of its choices include the – cucumber salad, stir fried cabbage and wok-fried brinjals and ladies fingers. Everything is well cooked and we ended our meals with a heavy tummy.

The restaurant is open from 11.30am to 8.30pm daily. When it’s more settled, it would be from 7am to 10pm.

The food is so reasonably priced. The chicken curry and fried chicken are RM12 each, mutton peratal and sotong sambal RM13.50, fish curry RM11.50. You get a free flow of curry gravy as well as water here.
