Being one of the southern provinces in Thailand, Phuket is widely known for the number of tourists who visit the region. It is also home to the largest Island in Thailand. However, it is far away from the capital city of Thailand, so, if you have to travel to Phuket you have to rent a car while in Thailand. Furthermore, Phuket is widely known for its unique cuisines.

Nonetheless, do you know about the cuisines in Phuket? If not then you are reading the right article. I will tell you the best Phuket cuisines you have to eat when you travel to Phuket.

The Best Phuket Cuisine You have to Know

During your vacation in Thailand, you have to travel to Phuket to taste one of the cuisines in the world. Their cuisines are spicy and I assure you will salivate once you see them. They include:

1.    Moo Hong

Moo Hong is a simmered pork meal which came from the Chinese. This cuisine is mostly cooked during ceremonies. The main ingredient of Moo Hong is the pork belly. It also consists of other ingredients such as dark soy sauce, pepper, coriander roots, garlic, and sugar. The sugar in the cuisine is to make it tastier. In addition, the soy sauce provides a salty taste for Moo Hong.
How Do You, Cook Moo Hong?
• The stewpot should be strong
• The heat should be moderate
• Simmer it for two to three hours
• Add water if you see the meal is dry
• Serve Moo Hong with rice once its ready.

2.    Kanohm Jin

Prepared from fish or rice and a sauce is added to this cuisine make it tasty. However, there are many sauces that you can add to Kanohm Jin. They comprise of:
• Namya Sauce
• Nam Phrik Sauce
• Tai-Pla Sauce

But, in Phuket, the residents usually eat this meal during breakfast. And they accompany this cuisine with fried Pah Tong Go and Hor Mohk. In addition, this cuisine usually comes with different types of fresh vegetables.


How to Prepare Kanohm Jin
The ingredients to use when preparing Kanohm Jin are:
• Coconut milk
• Red curry paste
• Sliced Krachai
• Fish sauce
• Fresh fish fillet
• Somen Noodles
• Garlic
• Shallots
• Pickled Mustard green
• Fresh Thai Basil
• Fresh Long beans
Once, you have these ingredients then you have to start preparing this meal in the following ways.
• Boil the fish for ten minutes but for chicken, you have to simmer it for 45 minutes
• Put the garlic and shallots in the pan and wait they turn brown. In addition, the heat should be moderate.
• After that put them in a mortar and crush them together with red curry paste and Krachai.
• The coconut milk should be heated moderately and add the ingredients in the mortar together with the fish or chicken.
• Add the other ingredients until the cuisine is ready.
You can serve this cuisine with boiled eggs.

3.    Por Pia
If you visit Phuket and don’t have a taste of this meal then you will have missed more than a lot. This is one of the nest cuisines prepared in Phuket. You don’t have to go to a fancy restaurant to eat this meal. It is found on the streets of Phuket. This cuisine is prepared by wrapping fillings of rice, meat, vegetables, prawns, crunchy pastry, and noodles. However, it’s best for you to get from a reputable restaurant. I assure you this is the best meal you can ever eat while in Phuket.

4.    Bee-go-moi
This cuisine is made of black, wet sticky rice with coconut milk. The thing that makes this cuisine unique is its texture and flavor. The coconut milk makes this meal tastier and I guarantee you that you will ask for more if you eat it for the first time. So, if you are planning or you are in Phuket then this meal should be on your list of cuisines you will eat in Phuket.

5.    Massaman Curry
Are you a fan of curry? If you are then Massaman curry is what you need while in Phuket. This is the best curry cuisine for a person like you. The flavors are amazing and what makes it even tastier is the coconut milk, tomatoes, peanuts, lime juice, and basil. This cuisine can be served with fish or pork depending on your preference. Nonetheless, most people prefer curry served with noodles or rice.

6.    Ah-pong

This is a common cuisine for the residents and tourists of Phuket. It is easy to prepare a meal. So, if you want you can have a recipe and prepare it yourself in your hometown. The following ingredients are what make Ah-pong:
• Yeast
• Milk
• Sugar
• Egg yolk
• Flour
• Water
This will surely enable you to prepare Ah-pong. However, if you are a tourist in Phuket you can get this amazing cuisine in one of the restaurants. This cuisine is of the form of a pancake. So, if you want to have the best experience in Phuket then this one of the meals you have to eat.

7.    Oh Tao
If you don’t know this is one of the best meals in Phuket. I don’t think you can leave Phuket if you don’t have a taste of this meal. This cuisine is prepared with the following ingredients:
• Fried oyster or seafood
• Eggs
• Flour
• Beansprout
• Taro root
• Vinegar
• Salt
• Sugar
The sugar, salt, and vinegar act as seasoning ingredients. So, if you want to have the ancient feel of the Phuket meal then this is the right choice for you.

8.    Loba
Loba is one of the most enjoyed cuisines by the Phuket residents and tourists who visit this famous island. Nevertheless, this meal is not appealing to most tourists because it consists of a lot of combinations. From the head, heart, lungs, tongue, and intestines of pork, this cuisine is tastier. Therefore, if you are looking to have a feel of the Phuket meal then this one for you. Its, however, of Chinese origin but it’s mostly found in the streets and restaurants in Phuket.
