NEW YORK COCKTAIL LEGEND LEO ROBITSCHEK VISITS LOBSTER BAR AND GRILL FOR A POP-UP STINT

January 5, 2016 by StrawberrY Gal

Lobster Bar and Grill at Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong welcomes legendary mixologist Leo Robitschek from New York’s Eleven Madison Park and The NoMad Hotel for a pop-up stint from 12 to 13 January 2016.

Leo is the bar director at New York’s Eleven Madison Park, one of the city’s most lauded restaurant, and The NoMad Hotel Bar, north of Manhattan’s Madison Square Park’s hottest hotel bar.  For a brief two-day stint in Hong Kong, he will showcase his cutting-edge cocktail mixes with the help of Lobster Bar and Grill’s skilled bartenders headed by Agung Prabowo.

Lobster Bar will serve six incredible cocktails from Leo’s award-winning bars, including his exceptional brewed coffee-based cocktail, Gentlemen’s Exchange, fiery, hot English Heat and smooth-tasting North Sea Oil.  Please refer to the appendix for the full cocktail menu.

A native of Venezuela, Leo began his career in hospitality while attending the University of Miami.  Shortly after graduating, he moved to New York, where his fascination for crafting cocktails using seasonal ingredients and a diverse array of spirits started.

In 2005, he was handpicked by Eleven Madison Park to reinvent its cocktail programme and, in 2009, he was promoted to head bartender.  His accomplishments were recognised in 2011 at Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans, where Eleven Madison Park was honoured as the World’s Best Restaurant Bar.

He was also named “Rising Star Mixologist” by Star Chefs in the same year.  Most recently, his work was recognised in Food and Wine’s 50 Best Bars in America and he is a recipient of the James Beard Award for Outstanding Bar Program and the New York City Bartender of the Year by Eater in 2015.

Lobster Bar offers a convivial atmosphere to unwind and savour a series of innovative cocktails crafted by bar manager Agung Prabowo and his team of cocktailians.  Lobster Bar recently became Hong Kong’s highest ranked bar at 18th on the World’s 50 Best Bar Awards 2015 by Drinks International.  It was also shortlisted as one of the “Best International Hotel Bars” at Tales of the Cocktail’s 9th Annual Spirited Awards 2015, and was listed among the top 30 in “The Greatest Bars in the World” in 2015 by Condé Nast Traveler.

Lobster Bar and Grill opens daily from noon to 1 a.m. from Sundays to Thursdays and from noon to 2 a.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and the eve of public holidays.  For more information, please telephone Lobster Bar and Grill on (852) 2820 8560 or e-mail [email protected].
