Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia AirlinesElevate Malaysian Heritage Cuisine at Golden Lounge, KLIA

January 23, 2026 by StrawberrY Gal

Two of Malaysia’s most distinguished homegrown brands, Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia Airlines, have come together in a prestigious culinary collaboration to showcase the richness of Malaysian Heritage Cuisine at the Malaysia Airlines Golden Lounge, Terminal One, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

This collaboration marks a significant milestone in celebrating Malaysia’s culinary legacy, uniting both brands as strategic partners of Visit Malaysia 2026 with a shared vision to position Malaysia as a world-class gastronomic and lifestyle tourism destination. By presenting authentic heritage cuisine at one of the country’s most important international gateways, the collaboration aims to inspire global travellers to explore Malaysia through its diverse food culture.

The Malaysian Heritage Cuisine experience will be featured at the Malaysia Airlines Golden Lounges, including the Platinum Lounge, Satellite Lounge, Regional Lounge, and Domestic Lounge during Malaysia’s most celebrated occasions: Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Merdeka Month, Deepavali, and Christmas, offering guests an elegant and immersive introduction to Malaysia’s diverse cultural flavours.

Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur, recently recognized by Jabatan Warisan Negara as the first 5-star Malaysian Heritage Cuisine Hotel in Malaysia brings its culinary professionals and cultural stewardship to this partnership. Working hand in hand with the Malaysia Airlines Golden Lounge culinary team, the collaboration will present a curated showcase of authentic Malaysian heritage dishes, thoughtfully crafted for discerning travellers.

The Malaysian Heritage Cuisine experience will be featured at the Golden Lounges during Malaysia’s most celebrated festive seasons: Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Merdeka Month, Deepavali, and Christmas, offering guests an elegant and immersive introduction to Malaysia’s diverse cultural flavours.

“This collaboration is a celebration of Malaysia, its stories, traditions, and flavours,” said Mr. Daniel Kaeflein, General Manager of Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur. “Being recognized as the first 5-star Malaysian Heritage Cuisine Hotel is an honour we deeply cherish. Partnering with Malaysia Airlines allows us to bring our culinary heritage beyond the hotel and into an international gateway, offering travellers a refined yet authentic taste of Malaysia.”

From the first welcome at the lounge to the final boarding call, guests will be invited to experience Malaysian cuisine as a form of cultural storytelling, elevated, soulful, and deeply rooted in tradition. Ms. Ong Min Hui, Group Chief Transformation and Customer Experience Officer of Malaysia Aviation Group, said

“As part of Visit Malaysia 2026, our collaboration with Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur celebrates the very essence of Malaysian Hospitality and the richness of our culinary heritage. By bringing authentic heritage cuisine to our Golden Lounges, we offer our guests a taste of Malaysia that is elevated, soulful, and deeply rooted in tradition.

Whether at lounges or on board our flights, we want to ensure every moment of their journey is a welcoming, memorable experience that reflects the warmth and culture of Malaysia.”

In conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026, this collaboration serves as a strategic platform to inspire global travellers through gastronomy, reinforcing Malaysia’s reputation as a destination where culture, Malaysian Hospitality, and culinary excellence seamlessly converge.

Together, Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia Airlines continue to champion Malaysian heritage, setting a new benchmark for how national identity can be elegantly expressed through premium travel and dining experiences.
