A Culinary Sanctuary Rises in Bukit Jalil: T42 Redefines Modern Asian Soul Food

November 18, 2025 by StrawberrY Gal

In the dynamic urban tapestry of Bukit Jalil, a new epicurean haven is quietly causing a stir, not with clamorous gimmicks, but with profound, soulful flavours and an atmosphere of serene tranquillity. T42, a name that belies its significant ambition, has opened its doors, presenting itself not merely as a restaurant but as a culinary sanctuary where heritage recipes are reimagined with breathtaking artistry and intention.

Stepping into T42 is an immediate departure from the city’s frenzy. The space is a masterclass in contemporary comfort, featuring an airy layout with ample seating bathed in soft, warm lighting. It is a thoughtfully designed environment that encourages leisurely meals and genuine connection, making it the perfect antidote to a hectic day

.

The menu is a poetic journey through Southeast Asi a’s most beloved flavours, each dish elevated to an unprecedented level of freshness and sophistication. The undisputed star, and a testament to T42’s philosophy, is their Lei Cha.

This traditional Hakka dish is transformed into a vibrant masterpiece—a generous bowl of steamed rice becomes a canvas for a confetti of crisp long beans, sweet leaves, black-eyed peas, pickled radish, and roasted peanuts. The act of pouring the vibrant, herbaceous flood of mint and basil soup over this mosaic of textures is a ritual in itself, resulting in what may very well be the most soul-satisfying and heartwarming bowl in the neighbourhood.

The culinary innovation continues with a revolutionary Cold Laksa, a dish that defies all convention. Eschewing the rich, coconut-based broth, T42 presents a stunning pure tomato soup base, deeply infused with the tangy notes of kesom leaves, the citrusy aroma of lemongrass, and the subtle spice of ginger bud. Served chilled with vermicelli, fresh cucumber, sweet pineapple, and a delicate omelette, it is a breathtakingly refreshing and complex creation destined to become a classic.

For those seeking comforting depth, the Asam Fish offers a robust house-made asam pedas sauce that perfectly marries fiery heat with tangy zest, enveloping tender garoupa fish fillets, okra, and pineapple.

The Mee Jawa, meanwhile, is a sweet and savoury revelation with its uniquely velvety pumpkin and sweet potato soup, adorned with a colourful array of toppings from fried tofu to a perfect soft-boiled egg.

Even the humble fried chicken is redefined. The Lemongrass Chicken Karaage, marinated with piquant fish sauce and fragrant lemongrass, achieves a perfect harmony of explosive juiciness within a shatteringly crisp exterior.

The experience culminates with a selection of artisan beverages that are works of art in their own right. The Pink Rose, a stunning elixir of red dragon fruit and elegant Oshadhi rose water, captivates the eye and palate, while the LIP—a sparkling fusion of fresh passion fruit, blue pea extract, and Oshadhi lavender water—provides a sophisticated and refreshing finale.

T42 is more than a dining establishment; it is a destination. It is a place where every detail, from the calming ambiance to the meticulously crafted dishes, is designed to nourish both body and spirit. In a city teeming with fleeting trends, T42 stands out as a welcome beacon of genuine, soulful cooking.
