All Thai’D Up at The Westin Kuala Lumpur

June 29, 2024 by StrawberrY Gal

Calling all foodies with a craving for bold and authentic flavors! Are you ready to take your taste buds on a tantalizing trip to Thailand? If Thai cuisine sets your heart racing, then All Thai’D Up at The Living Room in The Westin Kuala Lumpur is an experience you won’t want to miss. With Thai Guest Chef Surachai Pleanbumrung taking over the kitchen, this culinary event promises to deliver an unforgettable gastronomic adventure.

Chef Surachai Pleanbumrung, hailing from the esteemed Royal Orchid Sheraton Bangkok, brings his culinary prowess to The Westin Kuala Lumpur for a limited-time engagement. His dishes, steeped in tradition and refined for modern palates, are available on the dinner buffet on 21, 22, 28, and 29 June. From 23 to 27 June, diners can enjoy family-style set menus, offering an intimate and shared dining experience that showcases the best of Thai cuisine.

The buffet spread curated by Chef Surachai features a medley of traditional Thai dishes, each crafted to perfection. Among the standout offerings is Ma Hor (Galloping Horses), a unique appetizer named in honor of King Rama VII’s horsemanship. This dish features sweet and sticky caramelized minced pork served atop fresh pineapple or tangerine segments, garnished with coriander and thinly sliced red chili. The combination of sweet, savory, and slightly spicy flavors is a delightful start to the meal.

Another noteworthy appetizer is Som Tam (Green Papaya Salad), a quintessential Thai salad made from shredded green papaya mixed with chili peppers, tomatoes, garlic, lime juice, fish sauce, and peanuts. This dish is a harmonious balance of sweet, sour, salty, and spicy notes, making it a refreshing and flavorful appetizer.

Moving on to the main courses, Phad Thai Goong Sod (Stir-fried Noodles with Prawns) stands out as a beloved Thai classic. This dish features stir-fried rice noodles with shrimp, tofu, bean sprouts, peanuts, and egg, all enveloped in a tangy sauce made from tamarind, fish sauce, garlic, and chili. The blend of textures and flavors is both satisfying and comforting.

Beef Massaman Curry, known for its rich and complex flavor profile, combines elements of Thai, Malay, and Indian cuisines. This dish includes tender pieces of beef or chicken, potatoes, onions, and peanuts, all simmered in a coconut milk-based curry infused with a paste made from spices like cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, and nutmeg. The result is a curry that is sweet, savory, spicy, and slightly tangy.

Tom Kha Gai (Thai Coconut Chicken Soup) is another must-try dish. This aromatic soup features tender chicken in a creamy coconut milk broth, flavored with galangal, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, and Thai chilies. The soup is both rich and refreshing, offering a perfect balance of creamy and tangy flavors.

No Thai meal is complete without dessert, and Khao Niew Mamuang (Mango Sticky Rice) is the perfect finale. This iconic Thai dessert pairs sweet glutinous rice with ripe mango slices, drizzled with a coconut milk sauce infused with sugar and salt. The combination of sticky rice, juicy mango, and creamy coconut sauce creates a delightful and harmonious blend of flavors and textures.

Chef Surachai’s buffet offers more than just a few standout dishes; it’s an extensive feast featuring over 20 types of dishes, ranging from appetizers to soups, main courses, and desserts. Diners can indulge in up to 14 different dishes at any one time, ensuring a varied and satisfying dining experience. The buffet is priced at RM188 nett per adult and RM94 nett per child, while the family-style set options are available for lunch and dinner at RM110 nett for 2 persons and RM160 nett for 4 persons.

For those looking to enjoy a discount, Club Marriott members can take advantage of a 35% discount on the buffet, making this culinary adventure even more enticing. All prices are inclusive of a 6% SST. For bookings and inquiries, diners can reach out to Westin Dining via phone, WhatsApp, or email.

All Thai’D Up at The Living Room in The Westin Kuala Lumpur is more than just a dining experience; it’s a culinary journey that brings the rich and diverse flavors of Thailand to the heart of Kuala Lumpur.
