KL EAST MALL EMBRACES THE MONTH OF RAMADAN WITH A CAMPAIGN DEDICATED TO CHILDREN WITH AUTISM

April 14, 2021 by StrawberrY Gal

The holy month of Ramadan speaks of self-reflection, quality family time and doing good for the community. Embracing these sentiments, Sime Darby Property’s KL East Mall, is supporting Yayasan Pendidikan Insani through its first Hari Raya Aidilfitri campaign.

INSANI is a not-for-profit organisation that provides early intervention care, therapy, and education for 50 children with autism from low-income families.

KL East Mall kickstarted its Indahnya Syawal Kemeriahan Dirai campaign today to raise a minimum of RM50,000 for the children and families under the foundation. From now until 16 May, shoppers can support the cause by donating a minimum of RM10 and get the chance to colour a piece of a puzzle from a large artwork for the organisation. Shoppers can also contribute a minimum of RM35 and receive an exclusive tote bag designed by Malaysian fashion brand Fiziwoo in collaboration with renowned chef Datuk Redzuawan Ismail, better known as Chef Wan.

Habib, which officially opened its store in KL East Mall today, also pledged to contribute 100% proceeds from the sales of 300 pieces limited edition pure gold wafers worth RM118 each to INSANI.

Taking opportunity of the launch of the KL East Mall’s Corporate Social Responsibility, Datuk Chef Wan and Fiziwoo also made their donations to INSANI as a kick-start to the charity initiative

Sime Darby Property Group Managing Director, Dato’ Azmir Merican said, “The National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM) reports approximately 9,000 children are born with autism every year in Malaysia. That number is considerably high, and yet the awareness on the disorder remains low. Autism is one of the fastest growing disorders and must be addressed on a wider platform.

“Awareness on autism can be increased simply by talking about it. As a responsible property developer, Sime Darby Property does its part by actively organising initiatives in relation to the cause. We are proud to present this campaign which puts the spotlight on the community that has long been sidelined.

KL East Mall aims to raise funds and awareness on autism through this campaign, as well as create a space for organisations like INSANI to share their expertise in caring for those affected by the development disorder. Find out more about INSANI, autism and the campaign at the G1 Concierge Desk.

In preparation for Hari Raja Aidilfitri celebrations, KL East Mall has beautifully dressed its atrium in larger-than-life orchids and batik with hints of traditional weavings. Shoppers can step onto the centre stage for a picture with giant orchids or take in the view of the orchid garden from the traditional gazebo.

During the campaign period, shoppers can also redeem goodies* such as exclusive green packets when they spend RM60 and above in a single receipt and premium plates for a minimum of RM200 in a maximum of two receipts.
