PAVILION KUALA LUMPUR RAISES RM500,000 FOR CHARITY

March 13, 2017 by StrawberrY Gal

Since Pavilion Kuala Lumpur first opened its doors, charity has always been at the heart of Malaysia’s premier shopping destination, where excitement and creativity are injected into campaigns to raise funds for its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, also known as ‘Charity at Heart’. In a joyful ceremony today, Pavilion KL announced a total sum of RM500,000 raised during its first CSR campaign of 2017, in conjunction with its recent Chinese New Year celebrations.
Throughout the Chinese New Year campaign themed “The Rise to Opulence”, Pavilion KL raised funds for Old Folks’ Homes and special Children’s Homes through the sale of the “Dance of the Prosperity Rooster” decorative glass plates to shoppers. The mall also supported Epal Training Centre’s Chinese New Year initiative, where 1,000 door stopper roosters made by single mothers and handicapped individuals were purchased by Pavilion KL and gifted to media and guests throughout the campaign.
The ceremony kick-started with three heart-felt videos: “Giving is the Best Communication”, Charity at Heart over the years and Charity Homes; to symbolise the ever-beating heart of charity at Pavilion KL before the beneficiaries were invited onstage for a group photo with Puan Sri Cindy Lim. Each of the 20 homes, the first group of beneficiaries in this initiative, received a special donation of RM5,000 per home. An additional amount was then donated to Persatuan Seni Jahitan Kreatif in support of their “Searching for the Star” program. The remaining amount raised from Charity at Heart 2017 will be donated to various initiatives and special causes throughout the year.
In conjunction with Pavilion KL’s 9th anniversary, the ceremony ended with a fiery medley drum performance by the passionate Pavilion KL team that enthralled the crowd. Guests were not left out as a specially-designed Rainbow Cake made an appearance and was served to all who attended.
Speaking at the event, Puan Sri Cindy Lim said, “I would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who contributed generously to Charity at Heart this year. With acts of compassion and care, Pavilion KL has raised money that will aid in the welfare of old folks’ homes, education for special children and supporting the less fortunate. Your kindness brings them joy and fills their hearts with hope. We are truly appreciative of all your support and may your wishes come true with this good deed.”
To date, Pavilion KL has raised a grand sum of over RM 3 million in charity donations and pledges from festival fund raising, disaster relief funds and corporate donations.
