TOKB CAFÉ @ SECTION 13 PETALING JAYA

May 28, 2016 by StrawberrY Gal

A new café opens today with the theme of military concept where they’re the nation’s very first military concept café in Petaling Jaya here. For those who might not know, the café had a great story behind where On 8 December 1941; Kota Bahru is being invades by the Japanese and the attack of the Pearl Harbour only took place 70 minutes later and the World War II is being declared This point is left our history books and with this TOKB provides the opportunity for us to learn more about Kota Bahru played in the early years.

Aside from the good food, lets talk about the interior where part o the café comes with the viewing gallery with the various wartime memorial. You can find loads of those old motors, smaller planes, replica ships and more in the restaurant. And another thing is TOKB Café is not a normal café for you to enjoy coffee, pastas and cakes but they comes with a different concept where they brings you with their authentic Kelantanese Delights here.

Bent on ensuring the authenticity if the dishes, Partners Tung and Lee scoured the small town of Kota Bahru for someone who could create the authenticity of the mouth-watering of the Kelantanese dishes whilst invoking a comfort food from the loving prepared home cooked meals from Kak Ma. This is where the dishes are the traditional recipes passed down through the generation by their ancestors and he had been sharing the dishes is a small stall over 30 years.

Teh Atom Signature
Enjoy a cup of their signature drinks which is named as Teh Atom Signature where the it is one of the atomic-tasting the tarik you must not missed. Enjoy the intensely frothy goodness packs with a punch with the honey . The star drinks is amazingly good with the dose of natural sweetness and contributing you with the incredible texture.

Nasi Kerabu (RM 17.90)
Don’t miss their signature Nasi Kerabu which is one of the signature in TOKB. Brings you with the fragrant blue rice served with the ayam goreng, kerisik sambal ikan, solok lada, salted egg together with the fresh aromatic herbs and vegetables. Accompanied with budu and sambal belachan.

Laksam (RM 13.90)
Truly Malaysian and this is perfect. The flat rice noodles rolls in creamy white fish and coconut gravy and it is swerved with the aromatic herbs, vegetables and sambal. One of the staple food in the east –coast laksam, it is also said at the laksa of Kelantan. Brings you with the combination of kampong fish and subtly sweet coconut creates a rich, umami packed flavour. Spiked with a hit of spiciness for an explosive results.  And I am totally falling in love with this with the hot and spicy sensation from the sambal.

Nasi Rocket with Beef Serunding (RM 17.90)
It is actually Nasi Tumpang where this is where the rice with different layer of dishes wrapped in a cone shape with banana leaf packed. It is staple food for travelers or farmers in Kelantan to bring them to work and it is packed tighly with the omelette, beef floss, with the local curry, sweet sambal gravy and cucumber. Simply delicious and unique.  In here, you can choose enjoying them with the option of fish serunding or beef serunding. But in TOKB; it makes the meal even more worthy where they provide you with some keropok, acar, and also an L shape drumstick to go with it.

Well it is never an end to dine here, more Kelantanese delights to serve you where you can enjoy your meals with the nasi dagang or nasi bungkus together with a main from RM 11.90 onwards. Choose your choice of meal weather to go for Ayam Goreng at RM 12.90, Udang Masak Tempoyak (RM16.90), Gulai Udang (RM 14.90), Ikan Keli Paprik (RM 12.90) or the Ayam Masak Merah (RM 11.90)

You will be sure to enjoy all the Kelantanese delights in one place with the great ambiance. Not just that, for patrons who love to get their breakfast delights before heading to work, they have Kak Ma’s Nasi Bungkus breakfast sets from the café at 7.30 am daily just like how it is in Kota Bahru. Also they will be coming more items to enjoy for your breakfast such as Roti C4, roti bakar, roti Siam and more freshly made from their kitchen. Or you can also get some kuih there too

Never-less with over 6000 sq feet; with the semi outdoor for alfresco dining, an indoor air conditioned area. It can be good for either a small party or a private function where they can accommodate up to 300 pax.

No worries, ample of parking space in the basement with some lots reserved for café diners at the ground floor will be a plus for those who are planning to enjoy your meals there. They also have great loyalty program with their own engraved military tag where one can have his/ her personal details key and ranking from Sergeant to General ; depicting their discount beginning from 8% all the way up to 22%
