Malaysia’s Team Vertice wins #PlayGalaxy Cup 2026 Southeast Asia Qualifiers

June 22, 2026 by StrawberrY Gal

Malaysia’s esports scene has achieved another significant milestone as Team Vertice emerged victorious at the Samsung #PlayGalaxy Cup Southeast Asia Regional Qualifiers on 13 June 2026. The Malaysian team of four were crowned regional champions and are slated to compete at the #PlayGalaxy Cup World Finals to be held during Gamescom 2026 in Cologne, Germany.

The #PlayGalaxy Cup is a global tournament league highlighting the gaming performance of Galaxy devices. In 2026, the tournament expands into a yearlong global esports league in collaboration with PUBG Mobile — shifting from standalone events to a full-season format.

Team Vertice showcased exceptional skill, teamwork and consistency throughout the competition, overcoming some of Southeast Asia’s strongest PUBG Mobile teams from Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines. Teams were equipped with the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, which is built to deliver 39% more powerful neural processing unit (NPU) and a 19% faster central processing unit (CPU), to keep up with high-action gaming performance.

With their championship victory, Team Vertice will represent Southeast Asia on the global stage at the #PlayGalaxy Cup World Finals. They will also be joined by Team Vonzy from Indonesia, who came in second at the regional qualifiers. Both teams will compete against #PlayGalaxy Cup champions from other regions at Gamescom 2026, one of the largest gaming and interactive entertainment events in the world.

Team Vertice was led by #TeamGalaxy influencer, Muhammad Nur Ihsan bin Ismail, also known as San Gaming in the local esports scene. He credited his teammates Dep, ICAA and Kluq for their trust in him and each other throughout each match.

“We always moved forward to strategize for the next game, even if we made a mistake,” Ihsan said. “I’m super happy right now because I’ve been dreaming of going to Germany for a long time, and it’s an honour to bring the Malaysian flag to the world stage.”

The victory adds another achievement to an impressive year for Ihsan. Earlier in February 2026, San was selected to compete in a global PUBG Mobile open tournament in San Francisco, where he joined a four-player squad comprising of #TeamGalaxy representatives from around the world. The team claimed the championship title, giving San valuable experience competing alongside elite global talent.

“We’re going to study up on our future opponents,” Ihsan added, on Team Vertice’s immediate strategy for the finals at Gamescom. “We’ll be training every day for the finals.”

Team Vertice’s victory underscores the growing influence of Southeast Asian esports and highlights opportunities available to up-and-coming players through platforms such as TeamGalaxy, which continue to nurture talent and connect local gamers with global competitive arenas.

“This is a proud moment not only for Malaysia, but for the growing gaming community across the region,” said Matthew Ng, Head of Mobile Experience, Samsung Malaysia Electronics. “As mobile gaming continues to evolve, devices like the Galaxy S26 Ultra are helping unlock new possibilities for competitive play through powerful performance, advanced graphics capabilities and responsive gameplay experiences. We believe technology can be a catalyst for the next generation of esports talent, empowering players to train, compete and connect with the global gaming community wherever they are.”

Samsung co-developed a custom application processor (AP) for Galaxy S26 Ultra, featuring a 39% more powerful neural processing unit (NPU) and a 19% faster central processing unit (CPU).

Galaxy S26 Ultra, powered by Snapdragon® 8 Elite Gen 5, delivers enhanced graphics and gaming performance. A redesigned thermal architecture and large vapor chamber improves heat management for sustained performance. Optimized power efficiency extends battery life, while faster charging reduces downtime.
