JEJU BUSINESS AGENCY HOLDS SECOND ‘INVITATION TO JEJU, KOREA’ IN SINGAPORE: HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE A WEEK-LONG ‘A TASTE OF JEJU’ POP-UP STORE

October 29, 2025 by StrawberrY Gal

The Jeju Business Agency (JBA) in Singapore is pleased to announce the launch of ‘2025 Invitation to Jeju, Korea’ from 3 to 9 November 2025. This is the second of an annual event that aims to create greater awareness of products from Jeju and to foster business opportunities between Jeju, South Korea’s largest island, and Singapore. This year, a series of 4 events will be held for the different partnership groups that JBA (Singapore) has nurtured since its inception in June 2023.

The second ‘Invitation to Jeju, Korea’ will start off with A Taste of Jeju, a consumer-centric pop-up store at the United Square atrium from 3 to 9 November 2025. More than 70 Jeju products from its famously sweet and easy-to-peel mandarins to traditionally-fished seafood, ready-to-eat food and snacks, skincare and even pet care will be specially brought into Singapore for sampling and sale.

Singaporeans are invited to taste and experience Jeju’s most famous flavours at A Taste of Jeju which will feature and sell made-in-Jeju food products including traditional Korean confectionery ‘guazle’, fishcake made with Jeju olive flounder, eco-conscious food made from ‘ugly’ tangerines saved from disposal, wine made from Hallabong (Jeju island’s iconic citrus fruit) and natural grain products made by Korean working mothers who face career disruption and retreat to Jeju to use the island’s native ingredients to create wholesome snacks for their families. The pop-up store will also feature produce harvested from the fresh clean seas of Jeju caught by the traditional Joo-nak method[1] which ensures minimal damage and stress to fish and the environment and conch harvested by its community of Haenyeo[2] (women free-divers who dive without equipment) in a declining, centuries-old profession recognised as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Food items only available for sampling during the pop-up-store period include Jeju marinated abalone, barbecued conch, flourless, protein-rich fishcakes and South Korea’s top-selling brand of bottled water Samdasoo, known for its mineral-rich purity after filtration through the volcanic rock layers of Jeju, while the mandarins will only be given away to visitors to the event, courtesy of the Korea Citrus Export Corporation.

A Taste of Jeju will also offer Singaporeans the chance to pick up some of Korea’s most natural skincare with a range of Vitamin C-rich skincare and sun creams produced from Hallabong, Centella and highly-antioxidant white lotus from Jeju’s volcanic land, and waterless pet care shampoos and pet ear cleaning products made from Jeju’s volcanic lava water which contains ten time more minerals than purified water and is similar to amniotic fluids, making it ideal for sensitive pet skin.

For culture buffs, A Taste of Jeju is the largest showcase of Jeju life and culture in Singapore in one location offering unique interactions with all things Jeju, even offering a glimpse into Jeju’s unique approach to education, a distinctive system based on autonomy, diversity and creativity that has cultivated future-ready learners for generations.

For a heady dose of cultural immersion, the official opening of the pop-up store will feature a special performance and dance activity workshop by K-pop Jeju Hunters, Jeju1Cut, Jeju-styled photo zone with gats (traditional Korean hats) for posing in and a “When Life Gives You Tangerines” photo wall inspired by the Netflix hit as well as a Jeju Haenyeo exhibition wall. A Taste of Jeju will be officially opened by the Vice-Governor of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province on 4 November at 4pm at the United Square atrium; members of the public are welcome.

Shoppers who purchase any A Taste of Jeju product will also be eligible to redeem and win specialty Jeju items* including Jeju Flounder Fish Cake worth SGD 7.60 (redeemable with a minimum spend of SGD 50 at the pop-up store, limited to the first 20 purchasers a day) and Jeju souvenirs and gift items at the sure-win roulette for all purchasers with no minimum spend.

“It gives me great pleasure to welcome ‘Invitation to Jeju, Korea’ back to Singapore for the second-year running. With more Jeju brands and products and wider alliances that we have forged with Singaporean businesses in the last two years, I have no doubt that the increased awareness and appreciation of Jeju and its culture will create ever more meaningful partnerships and cross-border economic benefits between the two islands. I look forward to the day when Jeju products may be more prevalent and accessible to Singaporeans,” says Mr James Kim, Director, Jeju Business Agency (Singapore).

‘2025 Invitation to Jeju, Korea’ will continue with a by-invitation only Grand Opening Dinner at Park Royal, Beach Road on 4 November 2025, a Business Matching Event on 5 November at Oasia Hotel, Novena, and Start-Up Day on 5 to 6 November at AWS. Both the business matching event and the Start Up Day will be for Singapore companies to meet with Jeju’s companies for potential cross-border opportunities.
