Alamanda Shopping Centre Unveils RM100 Million Redevelopment, Transforming Putrajaya’s Retail Landscape

February 27, 2025 by StrawberrY Gal

Alamanda Shopping Centre, managed by Suria KLCC Sdn Bhd, has unveiled a transformative redevelopment, backed by a RM100 million investment from Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd.

Officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, this milestone underscores Alamanda’s role as a cornerstone of Putrajaya’s retail and lifestyle scene. As a beloved landmark, its redevelopment marks a significant step forward in enhancing the city’s vibrancy for both the local community and visitors.

As part of the transformation, Putrajaya Holdings has collaborated with the government to introduce Malaysia’s first Kiosk Sentuhan Madani at Alamanda. This initiative enables the public to conduct digital transactions with selected government departments beyond working hours. The launch ceremony was also attended by the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), Dr. Zaliha Mustafa.

Since its establishment in 2004, this is the mall’s first major overhaul, which began on June 20, 2023.

A New Era of Entertainment and Shopping

At the heart of this redevelopment is the all-new Escape Putrajaya at the Esplanade— a 151,548 sq. ft. outdoor adventure park developed in partnership with Sim Leisure Group Ltd. Designed to combine adventure and nature, it promises an exhilarating experience for families and friends.

The entertainment landscape has also been elevated with a family-friendly, 10-hall TGV Cinemas and an expanded U-Bowl X bowling centre, now featuring 26 lanes.

The transformation includes a 27% increase in Net Lettable Area (NLA), adding 199,000 sq. ft. of retail space, including Escape Putrajaya. In line with Alamanda’s tagline, “Easy Vibrant Shopping,” the mall has welcomed a dynamic mix of brands, with 29 new stores and counting! The new tenant mix offers a well-balanced shopping and leisure experience, catering to Putrajaya’s evolving demographics.

Aesthetic Upgrades and Sustainable Features

Alamanda now boasts a sophisticated new look with sleek marble flooring, glass balustrades, and stainless-steel handrails. The redesigned Plaza and façade seamlessly connect visitors to new retail offerings, while a 60,000 sq. ft. landscaped area enhances the surroundings with lush lawns, planter boxes featuring native plants, and a deck made from sustainable materials.

The new Esplanade features high-volume, low-speed (HVLS) fans, ensuring a comfortable outdoor dining experience while overlooking the fun-filled activities at Escape Putrajaya.

To accommodate increased visitor traffic, car park traffic flow has been optimized, ensuring a smoother and more seamless shopping experience for all.

Community Engagement and Digital Advancements

In celebration of the relaunch, Alamanda hosted the ASEAN Colouring Contest on February 22 and 23, followed by the Alamanda Rapid Chess Tournament on February 23. These events reflect Alamanda’s commitment to fostering community engagement, celebrating ASEAN unity, and nurturing young talent.

Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd CEO, Dato’ Ir. Ts. Izwan Hasli Mohd Ibrahim, remarked:

“For over 30 years, Putrajaya Holdings has envisioned and developed Putrajaya not just through infrastructure but by creating spaces that enrich its communities. Alamanda’s rejuvenation is a timely step forward, fostering growth and delivering long-term value to the people of Putrajaya and beyond.”

Suria KLCC Sdn Bhd CEO, Francis Tan, added:

“Alamanda Shopping Centre is more than just a retail space; it is an iconic community landmark where families, friends, and neighbors come together. This redevelopment elevates Alamanda into a vibrant lifestyle destination, blending modern retail, dining, and entertainment with thoughtfully designed spaces to meet the diverse needs of Putrajaya’s residents and visitors. With these exciting additions, Alamanda is poised to set a new benchmark in ‘retailtainment’.”

Exciting New Features

e-Vouchers: Say goodbye to physical vouchers! Alamanda is introducing e-Vouchers as an eco-friendly alternative. Available soon on the Alamanda website, these digital vouchers make the perfect gift for any occasion.

Alamanda Green Ribbon Pin: Supporting mental health awareness, the pin is available at the Concierge, with RM10 from each sale donated to partner NGOs.
