A Sweet Twist on Tradition: Inside Scoop Unveils Malaysia’s First Ice Cream Yee Sang

January 15, 2025 by StrawberrY Gal

Inside Scoop, a renowned local ice creamery, has added a new twist to the well-loved Malaysian custom of Yee Sang with the introduction of Malaysia’s very first Ice Cream Yee Sang. This innovation brings together the traditional components of Yee Sang with classic toppings of ice cream, reinventing the classic Chinese New Year dish.

Yee Sang, or Prosperity Toss, is way more than just a dish; it is a tradition that represents the bonds of harmony, blessings, and prosperity. While its origins are deeply rooted in Chinese culture, Yee Sang has become uniquely Malaysian and is celebrated by people of all walks of life as a symbol of unity. Inside Scoop’s Ice Cream Yee Sang pays homage to this cultural heritage while putting a playful, modern twist to appeal to today’s generation.

“From the start, we’ve always aimed to create products that resonate with Malaysians and showcase our love for fun and creativity,” shared Edmund Tan, co-founder of Inside Scoop. “Ice Cream Yee Sang is our way of bringing people together to celebrate in a way that’s both nostalgic and exciting.”

The Ice Cream Yee Sang is a manifestation of Malaysia’s rich multi-ethnic identity and the people’s culinary creativity. It is meant for sharing and to be enjoyed by both adults and kids to recreate the experience of Yee Sang. During times when the call to connect with one another has never seemed greater, the dessert brings people together, sharing happiness and laughter.

Available for a limited time only in selected outlets, Inside Scoop’s Ice Cream Yee Sang calls Malaysians to come together this Chinese New Year. For more information, please visit https://insidescoop.com.my/pages/cny-2025-cakes.
