Brunch Time with Sabayon @ EQ

December 5, 2024 by StrawberrY Gal

Nestled within the heart of KL City Centre, Sabayon at EQ stands out as a beacon of refined dining, offering an experience that blends timeless culinary techniques with modern flair. With its prime location providing panoramic views of the iconic KLCC skyline, Sabayon is a destination that captivates diners from the moment they step inside. The restaurant’s menu is a testament to the mastery of traditional French cuisine, inspired by the legendary Auguste Escoffier, while embracing innovative approaches to flavor, texture, and presentation. This dedication to both heritage and contemporary creativity makes Sabayon a must-visit for any food enthusiast.

During our recent visit, we were drawn to Sabayon’s Sunday Sky Brunch, a gastronomic journey that not only impressed us with its variety and flavors but also showcased the restaurant’s ability to cater to families with its thoughtfully designed Kids Brunch Set. This feature is a rare find in upscale dining and added a special touch for parents who wish to share the dining experience with their little ones.

The Sunday Sky Brunch Set (RM 198)

Starters:

The brunch experience began with an impressive choice of starters that set the tone for the meal. Diners could opt for Raclette, Salmon Rillettes, or Irish Oysters (with an upgrade option for RM 48).

We started off with the Raclette which was served with golden potato pavé, pearl onions, and gherkins—a dish that balanced creamy and tangy notes with perfection. The rich, velvety texture of the raclette cheese complemented the earthiness of the potatoes and the slight sharpness of the gherkins.

Salmon Rillettes

The Salmon Rillettes featured a delicate blend of cured salmon, smoked salmon, and pickled cucumber, offering a refreshing, layered flavor profile. Each bite delivered the rich taste of the salmon, accentuated by the tang of the pickled cucumber, making it a standout choice.

The entrées followed, adding more depth to the meal with their distinct flavors and elegant presentation. And we choose to go for the Parsnip Soup as well as the Burrata with Momotaro Tomato

The Parsnip Soup comes with the  velvety concoction that brought a sense of comfort and indulgence, with the parsnip’s natural sweetness shining through in every spoonful.

As for the Burrata with Momotaro Tomato, it was served with extra virgin olive oil and aged balsamico, showcasing the simplicity and brilliance of fresh ingredients. The dish celebrated the creamy, rich texture of burrata paired with the juicy sweetness of the tomatoes, creating a harmony of taste and texture.

For the main course, Sabayon’s dishes proved their expertise in cooking seafood and meat with the highest attention to detail and it never disappoint us at all.

Tiger Grouper, prepared with lemon butter sauce and capers, was fresh and impeccably cooked. The fish’s tender flesh paired perfectly with the delicate sauce, while the capers added a slight briny contrast that elevated the dish.

OP Ribs (Upgrade RM 128) were a highlight for their robust flavors and tender texture. Served with crumpets, truffle potatoes, and roasted cauliflower, the dish delivered an indulgent and satisfying experience. The meat was juicy, perfectly cooked, and infused with a depth of flavor that made it memorable.

Desserts:

The meal concluded with a choice between two enticing options: a Chocolate Fudge with Vanilla Gelato or a Cheese Platter.

The Chocolate Fudge with Vanilla Gelato was rich and decadent, its dense texture balanced by the light, refreshing taste of vanilla gelato. It was a delightful end to a luxurious meal, satisfying any sweet craving.

Sunday Sky Kids Brunch Set (RM 68)

Sabayon’s commitment to family dining was evident in their Kids Brunch Set, which provided a three-course meal that was both generous and appealing to younger palates.

Starter:

Yuuki, our young diner, started with Macaroni in a four-cheese sauce, enhanced by truffle essence and chives. This dish was rich yet light enough for a child, offering an irresistible combination of cheesy goodness and the subtle luxury of truffle.

Main Course:

The main course featured the same Tiger Grouper as in the adult set, but tailored to suit a child’s tastes. The fish, accompanied by lemon butter and capers, was mild and delicious, proving to be a hit with Yuuki.

Dessert:

For dessert, Yuuki enjoyed a selection of cakes and pastries, including a unique Pistachio Cake that stood out for its nutty flavor and moist texture. It was a delightful and creative twist that added a touch of sophistication to the kid’s menu.

From the stunning views of the KL skyline to the meticulously crafted dishes, the restaurant demonstrates its dedication to high culinary standards and guest satisfaction. The Sunday Sky Brunch at Sabayon provides an exceptional blend of fine dining, comfort, and family-friendly options that set it apart from other dining establishments. Whether you’re seeking a meal with a view, a chance to celebrate with friends and family, or a delightful culinary adventure, Sabayon at EQ is an experience that promises to leave a lasting impression.
