Prepare for an unprecedented experience in the realms of illusion and technology as IMMERSIO 2024 unfolds from 22 November to 22 December 2024, at the creative community hub, GMBB. This edition of IMMERSIO embraces an exciting new format, uniting new media artists and collectives from across Southeast Asia and states of Malaysia, showcasing the intricate cultural tapestry that defines this dynamic region.
Led by new media art collective Filamen, IMMERSIO 2024 dives deep into the enchanting theme of “Maya”, a word rooted in Sanskrit that signifies “illusion” or “magic” and translates beautifully to “virtual” in Malay. Drawing from the region’s rich tapestry of history, myths, cultural diversity and environment, the immersive festival creates a vibrant space where technology and imagination converges, inviting audiences to re-connect with the stories that shape our identities and envision a new future that honours our shared heritage.
Innovative collectives including Kapallorek (Perak, Malaysia), Mud Layar (Selangor, Malaysia), Tumbuktikus (Kelantan, Malaysia), Zontiga (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia), Command.io (Malaysia, Singapore), GengRambutan (Indonesia), Makmur Djaja (Indonesia), 084visual (Vietnam), LIVEHUMANSUBJECT (Singapore) and Creative Technologist Singapore will come together to offer a glimpse into the lively landscape of contemporary new media art across Southeast Asia.
Meanwhile, among the featured artists for IMMERSIO 2024: Maya Exhibition, curated by Koh Kai Ting, are Aw Boon Xin and Koh Kai Ting (Malaysia), Cahaya Create (Malaysia), Kian Tan (Malaysia), Raito Low (Malaysia), Suzy Sulaiman (Malaysia), Tan Zhi Hao (Malaysia), Zafree Zafar (Malaysia), Kinnara: Desi La (Japan), Pauline V. Despi (Philippines), Rosemainy (Singapore) and Pavee (Thailand). Each artist brings a unique perspective and artistic vision, enriching the experience of new media art in engaging and meaningful ways. There will also be a dedicated section – INYALA, which will spotlight students’ works from Multimedia University, The One Academy, Universiti Sains Malaysia and Universiti Teknologi MARA, celebrating the innovative voices of aspiring artists.

IMMERSIO is a new media art festival and intellectual property led by Filamen.
Co-organised by Filamen and Pixelworld, The IMMERSIO 2024 is supported by GMBB, CloudJoi, Jiak Kopi, EPSON Malaysia and RUBIX Communications. This edition of IMMERSIO is part of KreatifKL by Think City with cross-collaborated event partners including AR FEST KL, iNYALA, Klang River Festival and Kuala Lumpur Art Book Fair (KLABF).
