Think Green, Act Green: Sustainability and Creativity at Parkson Pavilion Bukit Jalil

October 2, 2024 by StrawberrY Gal

Parkson Pavilion Bukit Jalil proudly presents its Think Green, Act Green campaign, a month-long initiative running from 27 September to 27 October 2024 at the Skylight Atrium. This campaign reaffirms Parkson’s dedication to sustainability, creativity, and community engagement, inviting shoppers, partners, students, and the broader community to contribute to environmental preservation in meaningful ways.

Key Highlights of Think Green, Act Green 2024:

1. Supporting Local Artisans and Culture

In collaboration with Kraftangan Malaysia, Parkson showcases local artisans’ craftsmanship, offering handmade Batik clothes, crochet items, and bags for sale. Every weekend, visitors can partake in Batik Coloring, Beads Bracelet, and Crochet Knitting workshops, fostering both creativity and cultural appreciation. Additionally, a local F&B bazaar will be available every Friday to Sunday, serving a variety of delicacies such as pastries, healthy foods, vegan dishes, desserts, and beverages.

2. Collaborating with The Malaysian Institute of Art (MIA)

This year, Parkson continues to provide a platform for creativity by collaborating with 11 Textile and Fashion Design students from MIA. These students will showcase 12 unique fashion art pieces made entirely from recycled or waste materials, displaying their commitment to eco-friendly design. Furthermore, students will have the opportunity to meet renowned local designer Melinda Looi, who will share valuable insights and experiences from her journey in the fashion industry.

3. Electric Vehicle Awareness with Great Wall Motors (GWM)

As part of the green initiative, Parkson has partnered with Great Wall Motors (GWM), a leader in electric vehicles, to showcase the ORA07—a stylish, fully electric car designed for urban living. Test drives will be available every Saturday and Sunday, promoting sustainable transportation and reducing carbon footprints.

4. Environmental Art with KB Colour X Ani Kertas

An impressive art installation featuring Pangolin sculptures crafted from recycled paper will be displayed, showcasing the beauty and fragility of endangered species. These hand-crafted pieces tell a powerful story about environmental conservation and the importance of protecting our planet.

5. Recycling with Recircle

Parkson is partnering with Recircle, an innovative mobile app that digitalizes recycling in Malaysia. Shoppers are encouraged to donate 5KG of e-waste at Recircle’s booth for a chance to win attractive prizes. This initiative, held on 5, 6, 12, and 13 October, aims to make recycling more accessible and efficient for everyone.

6. Gift of Life: Organ Donation Awareness

In collaboration with Kiwanis, Parkson supports the Gift of Life Organ Donation Program, aimed at increasing awareness about the lifesaving potential of organ transplants. Visitors can learn more about the importance of organ donation at Kiwanis’ booth on 5, 6, 19, and 20 October, and discover how pledging to donate organs could save up to eight lives.

7. Sustainable Solutions by Nets Printing

Parkson has partnered with Nets Printing to offer eco-friendly food ware made from paper materials, further emphasizing the campaign’s commitment to sustainability. Shoppers are invited to explore these products and contribute to creating a more sustainable future.

8. Partnering with Community Recycle for Charity (CRC)

Parkson encourages shoppers and employees to donate old clothes, books, toys, batteries, and other recyclable items at the designated drop-off station at the Skylight Atrium. This partnership with CRC emphasizes giving back to the community while promoting recycling and sustainability.

9. Employee Creativity: Recycled Artwork Showcase

Parkson’s internal Recycled Artwork Competition held in July 2024 will feature a mini showcase of the top three submissions, displaying the creativity of Parkson employees in transforming waste materials into art.

Vendors’ Commitment to Sustainability

Parkson has engaged with numerous vendors, including Akemi, Hush Puppies, La Gourmet, and Pierre Cardin, to promote sustainable products throughout the campaign. Shoppers can explore these vendors’ environmentally friendly offerings, reinforcing their collective commitment to reducing environmental impact.

The Think Green, Act Green 2024 campaign at Parkson Pavilion Bukit Jalil not only highlights the brand’s commitment to sustainability but also encourages creativity and community engagement.
