Celebrating Malaysian Flavors, Savor Unveils a Special Merdeka Menu!

August 27, 2024 by StrawberrY Gal

Savor, the renowned plant-based restaurant in Mont Kiara, Hartamas that has quickly become a favorite among food enthusiasts, celebrities, and key opinion leaders, is proud to announce the launch of its Merdeka Menu in honor of Malaysia’s Independence Day. This limited-time menu offers a unique twist on traditional Malaysian dishes, all made entirely plant-based, showcasing the vibrant flavors and rich culinary heritage of the nation.

A Culinary Tribute to Malaysia: The Merdeka Menu

Savor’s Merdeka Menu is a thoughtfully curated selection of dishes that pay homage to beloved Malaysian flavors while embracing the restaurant’s commitment to plant-based cuisine. Highlights include:

• Merdeka Lemak: Celebrate bold flavors with our Merdeka Lemak, featuring fragrant blue rice, juicy satay lilit, homemade sambal, savory lion’s mane rempah, and fresh paku pakis. This dish is a delightful fusion of traditional elements and innovative plant-based ingredients.

• Takano d’Sumandak: Meaning “A Young Lady’s Rice,” this dish includes her favorite Sabah traditional dishes—Tuhau Sambal (wild ginger), spicy-sweet Bambangan (wild mango), Bosou Sayur (preserved vegetables), fresh Pucuk Manis with soy chips, and sweet-savory Mushroom Stems. Each bite offers a taste of Sabah’s rich culinary heritage.

• Sehati Satay: This dish features three perfectly grilled skewers of seasoned plant-based meat wrapped around lemongrass sticks, served alongside fresh cucumber slices, ketupat rice cakes, and a side of rich satay peanut sauce. A true Malaysian classic, reimagined for everyone to enjoy.

• Banana Frits with Coconut Ice Cream: End your meal on a sweet note with crispy banana Abu fritters served with a scoop of creamy coconut ice cream, creating a delightful fusion of warm and cool, sweet and tropical sensations.

A Year of Success and Culinary Innovation

Over the past year, Savor has rapidly gained popularity, attracting a diverse clientele that includes well-known KOLs, politicians, and celebrities. The restaurant’s commitment to innovation has been evident in its seasonal menus, such as the recent Harvest Festival menu, which presented traditional Sabah dishes in a plant-based format. The ingredients for this menu were flown in especially from Sabah, allowing patrons in Kuala Lumpur to experience the authentic flavors of the region.

Savor’s ability to create menus that resonate with its audience has been a key factor in its success. From the Chinese New Year menu to the Christmas and Valentine’s Day offerings, Savor consistently introduces new dishes that offer unique culinary experiences.

“Our goal at Savor is to challenge the perception that plant-based food is only for vegans. We believe that anyone, regardless of their dietary preferences, can enjoy and appreciate the rich flavors and creativity that go into our dishes,” said David Ng, Co-founder of Savor. “Our seasonal menus are designed to introduce people to new foods and allow them to experience cuisine like never before. With the Merdeka Menu, we’re excited to bring the essence of Malaysia’s culinary heritage to life in a way that’s both delicious and healthy.”
