The HONOR 200 Pro: An Impressive Upper Mid-Range Contender

July 22, 2024 by StrawberrY Gal

The new HONOR 200 Pro is among the smartphones to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset in the Malaysian market. Priced at RM2,699, it positions itself slightly above its competitors within the upper mid-range class, offering several unique advantages that justify its premium.

Specifications

The standout feature of the HONOR 200 Pro is undoubtedly its camera system. It boasts a 50MP portrait main camera, a 50MP telephoto camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 50MP portrait selfie camera. This setup is comparable to the Pro model, albeit with a slightly different sensor.

Photographs taken with the HONOR 200 Pro are bold and vibrant, that enhances the energy and vividness of each scene. This effect makes the focus point stand out distinctly against any backdrop. The AI-powered Harcourt portrait modes are a game-changer for those who frequently capture portraits, offering studio-quality shots that are indeed a game changer with quality shots that you will definitely fall in love with.

An additional feature that sets the HONOR 200 Pro apart is its 2.5x optical zoom, a rarity in this price segment. While 2.5x might not seem significant, it offers a considerable advantage over digital cropping, providing clearer and more detailed images.

Design and Functionality

The HONOR 200 Pro features a dual-finish design on the back, with a subtle texture that resists fingerprints, and curved sides, which might be a divisive choice for some users. The device maintains a high-quality display with enough brightness for comfortable outdoor use. It also includes wet touch technology, allowing operation even with wet hands, though it sometimes registers raindrops as touches.

The Honor 200 also completed with the fingerprint scanner where it is pretty quick and it has the facial recognization built in.  On the software front, the HONOR 200 Pro runs MagicOS 8 based on Android 14. It includes features like the Magic Capsule and Smart Folder tool, enhancing usability. However, it also comes with a significant amount of bloatware, including redundant apps and unnecessary extras, which might require some time to clean up.

Performance and Battery

Powered by the mid-range Qualcomm SM8635 Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 , the HONOR 200 Pro offers a choice of 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of internal storage. This setup ensures smooth performance across various tasks, including gaming and multitasking. The 5,100mAh battery comfortably lasts an entire day, with an impressive performance during a video playback test, suggesting it could last up to 25 hours.

The HONOR 200 Pro supports 100W SuperCharge, allowing the device to charge from 0 to 100% in approximately half an hour, provided you have the necessary kit.

Conclusion

The HONOR 200 Pro combines sleek design, robust performance, and excellent camera capabilities, especially for portrait photography. For more information, do visit Honor websute
