A Mid-Autumn’s Golden Dream @ Pavilion Hotel KL & Banyan Tree KL

July 24, 2024 by StrawberrY Gal

In a remarkable blend of tradition and modern technology, Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur and Pavilion Hotel Kuala Lumpur have proudly introduced Malaysia’s first mooncake packaging featuring Augmented Reality (AR). This innovative launch is in celebration of the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival, a time-honored occasion deeply rooted in Chinese culture. By teaming up with renowned Malaysian artist Jaee Tee, the hotels have not only honored tradition but have also pushed the boundaries of artistic expression.

Jaee Tee, known for her semi-abstract art that seamlessly fuses traditional Chinese elements with contemporary Western influences, has lent her distinctive style to this project. Her artwork, which adorns the mooncake boxes, is a captivating mix of majestic flying dragons and whimsical butterflies set amidst lush spring blossoms. This intricate design is not just for visual appeal; by scanning the QR code on the box, customers can experience Tee’s artwork coming to life in stunning detail through AR, offering an immersive and interactive experience.

Tee’s collaboration with Banyan Tree and Pavilion Hotel is a celebration of culture, art, and technology. “It is an absolute honor to see my art featured on the mooncake packaging of Pavilion Hotel and Banyan Tree Hotel,” says Tee. “This Mid-Autumn collaboration has been an inspiring journey, uniting art, culture, and technology. Together, we strive to preserve tradition while pushing boundaries and offering a contemporary perspective on our rich cultural heritage.”

The mooncake gift boxes, titled “Moonlit Majesty” and “Joyous Blossoms,” are more than just packaging; they are works of art that elevate the gifting experience. The Moonlit Majesty collection, featured at Pavilion Hotel, showcases Jaee Tee’s new series, “Journey through Ages: Past, Present, and Perception.” This series delves into the Dragon motif, a mythical creature symbolizing power, wisdom, and longevity, perfectly timed with the Year of the Dragon in 2024. The resplendent golden backdrop symbolizes nature’s enduring allure, with a commanding dragon gracefully flowing through a serene landscape under the moonlit sky.

The Moonlit Majesty collection offers an array of flavors that are sure to tantalize taste buds. Customers can delight in Assorted Nuts & Sun-Dried Fruits, savor the fragrant Pandan Lotus Paste with Single Yolk, experience the richness of Tiramisu Lotus Paste with Caramel Lava, and enjoy the unique combination of Nyonya Red Bean Paste with Salted Mung Bean Filling. Each box is priced at MYR 298 nett and contains four medium-sized mooncakes, each weighing 160g. These mooncakes are individually sealed and presented within the majestic box, making them a truly remarkable gift for loved ones.

The Joyous Blossoms collection at Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur captures the festive spirit of harmony and abundance. This collection showcases Tee’s art with blossoming flowers symbolizing love and prosperity, complemented by butterflies embodying joy. The intricate artwork on each box captures the elegance and tradition of Chinese legacy. The collection offers flavors such as White Lotus Paste with Single Egg Yolk, Pandan Lotus Paste with Single Egg Yolk, and Yam Lotus Paste with Single Egg Yolk. Each box, priced at MYR 198 nett, contains four medium-sized mooncakes, each weighing 160g.

Both collections are available for pre-order, with delivery and self-collection options until September 17, 2024. An Early Bird Special offers a generous 15% discount, making it an ideal opportunity to indulge in exquisite treats while enjoying significant savings.

For those looking to purchase larger quantities, the hotels have an enticing bulk order discount program. Customers can enjoy a 20% discount on orders of 50 boxes and above, a 25% discount on 100 boxes and above, and a 30% discount on 150 boxes or more if purchased before August 1, 2024. This exclusive promotion is perfect for sharing with colleagues, friends, or loved ones. Delivery services are available, with fees determined by the delivery partner based on address and quantity.
