Canon Unveils New imagePROGRAF GP Series and imagePROGRAF PRO Series Large Format Printers

March 25, 2024 by StrawberrY Gal

Canon Marketing Malaysia (“Canon”) today announced the launch of its latest innovations in large format printing, introducing three new imagePROGRAF GP Series (GP-526S/546S/566S) and three new imagePROGRAF PRO Series (PRO-526/546/566) printers. The new GP Series caters to the graphic arts market, while the new PRO Series is best suited for photo print images and fine art prints.

“We are thrilled to introduce our latest innovations in large format printing, designed to elevate print quality, streamline operations, and address the ever-evolving needs of our customers,” says Jeffrey Kung, Head of the Business Imaging Solution (BIS) Division at Canon Marketing Malaysia. “With the launch of the new imagePROGRAF GP Series and PRO Series printers, Canon strengthens its position as a one-stop solution provider, ensuring exceptional performance and environmentally conscious solutions. Our goal is to empower businesses, providing them with the tools they need to turn their creative visions into reality. At Canon, we believe business can be simple, and we’re leading the way in innovation to achieve that.”

Each printer uses the new LUCIA PRO II pigment ink, which is developed to deliver good print quality for bright and eye-catching posters such as product advertisements, and has strong light resistance and better scratch resistance. Both have see-through covers for roll paper and ink tanks, making it easy for users to check supplies. Interior lighting allows users to inspect prints in progress, and the broad panel provides a clear view of remaining paper and ink levels.

For smoother operations, the printers include a new ink sensing system that monitors ink conditions to optimise landing position, ensuring high image quality and preventing colour shifts. The “Smart Roll Paper Set” function automatically detects paper source, type, and estimates remaining paper, speeding up the paper feed process and simplifying printer maintenance for stable operation.

The imagePROGRAF GP Series is engineered for high-speed printing, catering to various market segments such as in-house advertising offices and print shops. With LUCIA PRO II 7-colour pigment inks, vibrant prints with smooth gradation can be achieved, supporting fine texture and high-quality posters. On the other hand, the imagePROGRAF PRO Series sets a new standard for printing, featuring LUCIA PRO II 12 pigment inks that provide a wide colour gamut perfectly suited for photo prints and fine art applications on various paper media.

In support of sustainability, Canon’s new large format inkjet printers come in eco-friendly cardboard packaging instead of Styrofoam . The use of polystyrene foam packing materials has been reduced by 89.5% in both the “GP-546S” and “PRO-546” models. The corrugated cardboard packaging is foldable, making it more compact during installation and reducing waste for disposal.

Both the imagePROGRAF GP Series and PRO Series printers are now available at authorised Canon partners.
