Flower Girl Restaurant: A Culinary Oasis at Pavilion Bukit Jalil

September 22, 2023 by StrawberrY Gal

The bustling Pavilion Bukit Jalil is becoming a food haven, and on my recent visit, I was drawn to the chic and beautifully decorated Flower Girl Restaurant. The name alone invokes an aura of delicacy and freshness, and the restaurant’s interior lives up to that expectation

Walking in, you’re immediately greeted by a spacious dining area adorned with elegant floral arrangements and hints of pastel hues. Gentle lighting adds warmth to the ambiance, making it a cozy spot to dine and chat.

As a food enthusiast, I always appreciate a diverse menu that showcases a fusion of cuisines. Flower Girl Restaurant impressively offers a medley of dishes ranging from Asian to Western and doesn’t forget the sweet tooth, offering an enticing selection of cakes and pastries.

Soba Salad

Starting with their Soba Salad, it was a refreshing beginning. What makes this dish stand out is its thoughtful combination of ingredients. The soba noodles, with their unique nutty flavor, paired well with the crunchiness of the long beans and the soft bite of edamame. The burst of freshness from the cherry tomatoes added an additional layer of flavor. The dish, being vegan-friendly, is a testament to how delicious and wholesome plant-based meals can be.

Ginger & Coriander Prawn Salad

One of the signature this is a must to try here. The grilled herbs prawn served together with the cubes of trio capsicum, corn  kernal, dice avocado, and the signature ginger and coriander dressing. This is indeed very tempting and delicious and we love the overall taste mixture.

We love the signature ginger and coriander dressing. It’s a melody of flavors: the sharpness of the ginger, the aromatic essence of coriander, and a subtle tanginess that ties everything together. This dressing elevates the dish, providing a unique flavor profile that distinguishes it from any other prawn salad I’ve tasted. The corn kernels add a sweet crunch, the avocado lends a creamy texture, and the capsicum offers a juicy, refreshing bite

The Salad Carpese

Upon being served, the visual appeal is unmistakable. The pristine white chunks of mozzarella cheese, artistically diced, glisten in the ambient light of the restaurant, beckoning you to delve into this feast. Each cube looks soft and succulent, promising a burst of creamy goodness.

Paired with the cheese are freshly plucked basil leaves, deep green and fragrant. Their aroma mingles perfectly with the mozzarella, adding an earthy undertone to the dish. The basil not only adds color to the plate but also a fresh peppery taste that balances the creaminess of the cheese. What makes is perfect is the truffle vinaigrette where this rich dressing brings you with the luxurious aroma, drizzles over the cheese and basil, adding an exquisite depth of flavor.

After a delightful meal, we continue with their selection of the mains. The pasta and noodles is impressively good.

Shoyu Butter Seafood Pasta

Upon presentation, the dish boasts of its colorful medley of ingredients. The glistening prawns, plump and cooked to perfection, sit atop the pasta, their vibrant hue contrasting with the creamy shade of the sauce. The seafood comes simply fresh and delicious specially the calamari rings and the blue mussels. And what makes it even better is the rich and creamy butter base sauce which is well infused with the savoury notes of the shoyu.

Together with it is the al-dente pasta which is beautifully coated with the sauce and each forkful brings you with the burst of the ocean’s freshness, the earthiness of the mushrooms, and the rich amalgamation of butter and shoyu.

 Green Curry Grilled Chicken Noodles

Diving into the diverse culinary traditions of the world, the Green Curry Grilled Chicken Noodles at the Flower Girl Restaurant is a unique take on combining the rich Thai flavors with the classic noodle dishes. The very first impression of the dish is its alluring aroma. The fragrant scent of the green curry, bursting with a blend of lemongrass, galangal, and kaffir lime leaves, wafts through the air, teasing the senses even before the first bite. When you pair the aromatic green curry with the smokiness of grilled chicken and the chewiness of stir-fried noodles, it’s a match made in culinary heaven

Nyonya Laksa Noodles

Something which I love! The Nyonya Laksa that comes with the luxurious touch of goodness. The deep, orange-red broth promises a rich and flavorful journey. This decadence is achieved by meticulously simmering prawns, chicken, and a blend of spices for hours. But what truly elevates the Nyonya Laksa at this restaurant is the unique touch of ginger flower. Known locally as ‘Bunga Kantan’, this exotic ingredient adds a zesty fragrance that intertwines beautifully with the creamy coconut milk base of the laksa. It’s a flavor not often found in regular laksas, making this bowl particularly special.

Swimming amidst the sumptuous broth are the springy noodles. Cooked to al-dente perfection, they add a delightful bite to the dish, ensuring a textural contrast to the ingredients that comes together.

Crispy Tangy Egg Tortila

The Crispy Tangy Egg Tortilla is not your typical tortilla wrap. This dish showcases a daring blend of textures and flavors that are both surprising and pleasing to the palette. At its core, the dish celebrates the humble egg, transformed into a crispy delicacy. The egg is lightly whisked, seasoned to perfection, and then fried until it achieves a golden-brown hue and a tantalizingly crispy edge. It’s this crispy dried egg that gives the dish its signature texture and rich flavor.

But what truly sets the Crispy Tangy Egg Tortilla apart is its brilliant pairing with mango salsa. The salsa is a vivacious medley of ripe, juicy mangoes, diced red onions, fresh coriander, a hint of zesty lime juice, and a touch of chili for that slight kick.

Cinnamon French Toast

At first glance, the golden hue of the French Toast speaks volumes about its perfect preparation. Each slice is soaked generously in a blend of creamy milk, eggs, and a touch of vanilla essence, ensuring the bread absorbs all the rich flavors before being gently griddled to a crispy yet tender finish.

But what truly sets this dish apart is its cinnamon sugar crust. As the toast sizzles on the griddle, a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar caramelizes into a delectably crunchy layer. This crust not only gives an enticing texture but also introduces a warming spice note.

Chicken Pong Tay

The star of this dish, the braised chicken chop, is tenderly cooked to perfection. Each piece of chicken effortlessly soaks up the delicate yet profound flavors of the sweet bean paste, ensuring every bite is laden with a depth of savory sweetness that’s reminiscent of traditional Peranakan cuisine. The bean paste imparts a beautifully balanced umami flavor that seeps deep into the chicken, enhancing its natural taste. Sides with rice.

Breaded Chicken Chop

Breaded Chicken Chop stands out as an epitome of comfort food refined to gourmet standards. The chicken, chosen for its premium quality, is meticulously breaded with a seasoned mixture that promises both flavor and crunch. Upon deep-frying, this outer layer transforms into a golden, crispy crust, while the inside remains succulent, tender, and brimming with natural juices. Every bite of the chicken chop is a celebration of contrasting textures: the crunch of the breaded exterior followed by the melt-in-the-mouth tenderness of perfectly cooked chicken. It is sides with the potato wedges and the fresh salad, lightly drizzled with truffle vinaigrette

We ends our meals with their cakes.
