THE BREAKING OF FAST WITH CHILDREN OF BUDIMAS

April 10, 2023 by StrawberrY Gal

In the spirit of Ramadan, and continuing with EQ’s tradition of giving back to the community, 41 children and their minders from Budimas Foundation were treated to EQ’s popular Citarasa Nipah buffet dinner at the hotel.

An extensive buffet spread of delectable traditional Malaysian dishes were served to the children while a three-piece band, Luxmana Songkok, played popular songs on traditional instruments that got their feet tapping, and even set-off an impromptu karaoke session by the children.

“EQ has a longstanding heritage of giving back, stemming from when the hotel was still Equatorial Kuala Lumpur,” says General Manager, Mr. Gerard Walker. “It is embedded in our DNA and is integral to the way we operate and do business,” says Walker. “It is even entrenched in our motto which is: We touch the lives of people in a meaningful way and are part of the social fabric in Malaysia as we’ve always been.”

The Budimas Charitable Foundation is a non-governmental and non-profit organisation. Incorporated under the Trustees Act 1952. The foundation’s mission is to provide guidance and funding in support of the welfare and the well-being of orphans and underprivileged children in Malaysia.

The organisation’s three-pronged approach includes three programmes which are Budimas Home Charity Fund (BHCF), Budimas Food Charity Fund (BFCF) and Budimas Education Charity Fund (BECF) which address the three basic necessities of a child, which are food, education and a home.

EQ is proud to be a partner with the Foundation and its trustees. “We are impressed by the work that Budimas does in actively helping underprivileged children have a chance at a normal childhood,” says Walker. “This is our way of saying thank you to the volunteers at Budimas and to put a smile on the faces of the children.”
