McDonald’s Malaysia Offers 500,000 Free Meal Vouchers to Teachers Nationwide to Celebrate Teachers’ Day

June 2, 2022 by StrawberrY Gal

McDonald’s Malaysia is celebrating teachers and their contributions to society, by giving out free meal vouchers to teachers nationwide. In conjunction with Teachers’ Day, teachers can redeem their free meal vouchers at any McDonald’s restaurant near them. The effort is part of the quick-service restaurant’s efforts to feed and foster the communities.

Starting from 16 May until 30 June, the quick-service restaurant will be distributing a total of 500,000 meal vouchers to teachers nationwide. The free meal vouchers will benefit 500,000 teachers working in national and government-aided schools under the purview of the Ministry of Education. Using the free meal vouchers distributed, teachers can enjoy a free Spicy Sesame McChicken or Sausage McMuffin with Egg meal at any McDonald’s restaurant nationwide.

“Teachers play a pivotal role in motivating students to reach their highest potential. This is important because these students are the nation’s future leaders. As part of McDonald’s Malaysia’s commitment to giving back to the communities it operates in, we would like to express our gratitude to the everyday heroes of our country,” said Dato’ Azmir Jaafar, Managing Director and Local Operating Partner, McDonald’s Malaysia.

“McDonald’s Malaysia is honoured to treat our teachers to a free McDonald’s meal in conjunction with Teachers’ Day. We hope to do our part in motivating educators to continue guiding and nurturing the nation’s youths towards their highest potential,” said Dato’ Azmir Jaafar.

The distribution of the free meal vouchers is an extension of McDonald’s Malaysia’s efforts in honouring teachers. On 14 May, McDonald’s Malaysia announced the 25 winners of the Anugerah Guru Inspirasi (AGI) McDonald’s 2022. AGI McDonald’s is an annual award that calls on Malaysians to nominate their ‘Cikgu Luar Biasa’ who have gone beyond the call of duty to nurture students holistically.

This year, McDonald’s Malaysia received more than 5,600 public nominations for AGI 2022, which is now in its sixth iteration. Since its inception in 2017, AGI McDonald’s has awarded 131 winners for going above and beyond to nurture and guide the country’s most valuable resource – children – in their learning journey.

McDonald’s will also be hosting Teachers’ Day parties at all their restaurants nationwide from now till 30 June 2022. Teachers from schools nearby to a McDonald’s restaurant can celebrate Teachers’ Day by indulging in delicious McDonald’s meals and fun games at the restaurants. Introduced in 2015, Teachers’ Day celebrations at McDonald’s is the brand’s effort in providing feel-good moments to all teachers in Malaysia.
