Calia @ KL East Mall

June 27, 2022 by StrawberrY Gal

For those who know, Calia is one of the outlets which is famed during MCO. Started back 2-3 years , Calia opened its first outlet in Malaysia which is in Pavilion KL and they had spread their wings and opened the second outlet in KL East Mall.

About Calia

Calia is a unique Australian restaurant-to-retail brand created in 2016 in Melbourne celebrating the finest in local Australian and international produce – both in the restaurant and in the adjoining retail marketplace.

A balance of experience and excellence, Calia is driven by the pursuit of perfection for the modern gastronomist. At the heart of the brand, we believe that simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. We have captured the quintessence of nature’s nest in our selection of products, to delight even the most conscientious of palates.

The Food

As for the food, Calia’s food ranges from pasta, sashimi, small plates, calia bowl, and more. The menu comes pretty extensive and one’s definitely finds something to dine for here.

Truffle Mushrooms Aglio E-Olio (RM 29)

One of the must-go for here is the Truffle Mushroom Aglio E-Olio where the aglio-olio is topped with 5 kinds of mushrooms, with loads of garlic, olive oil, a hint of chili, and spice tossed with the pasta. The pasta served al-dente with the fragrant hint of the truffle in it. Deliciously done!

Smoked Salmon Sashimi (RM35)

Uniquely done! The smoked salmon sashimi is served with the passion fruit and sesame vinaigrette. They are absolutely delicious giving you the melts-in the-mouth sensation. It comes with the light sourish blend from the passion fruit and they are so refreshing.

Saikyo New Zealand Lamb Rack (RM 68)

The New Zealand Lamb Rack is perfectly grilled. The meat remains juicy and they are served with the pumpkin puree with it.

Piri-Piri Fresh Water Prawns (RM 38)

This is indeed a must to try here. The freshwater prawns Are perfectly pan-seared till perfection with the smoke paprika butter, lemon and garlic chips. They are indeed so delicious and the prawns are so fresh. Nicely done!

Aburi Salmon (RM 43)

Calia is famed for their rice bowl. One must-try is their Aburi Salmon where the awesome insta-friendly bowl of aburi salmon completes with the flamed seared salmon which is topped with the ikura and their secret Calia Sauce. The portion is pretty generous and it is one of our family’s favorites. It is indeed a comfort dish to go to whenever you are in Calia.

Ultimate Bowl (Limited)(RM 168)

For beef lovers, go for their Ultimate Bowl. The Ultimate Bowl completes with the uni, full-blood wagyu, together with the French Foie Gras, Ikura, Mixed Mushroom, and the 63 degrees egg. The bowl of goodness is indeed so delicious and every mouthful is so nice and fragrant. The wagyu is so juicy and it is something not to be missed in Calia!

Wagyu Inaniwa Udon  (RM 48)

Their udon is superb. It does not even turns soggy even we took quite a while to enjoy them due to photography. The sous vide wagyu is served together with the springy bouncy udon noodles in an umami soy broth, grilled mushroom and coriander. They are perfectly done.

Matcha Lava Lava (RM 33)

The desserts in Calia are something not to be missed. Being famed for its desserts, the Matcha Lava Lava is perfect for Matcha Lover. One can enjoy the rich enticing chocolate lava cake with the oozing warm matcha ganache here. The thick creamy matcha ganache comes superbly delicious and it has a fragrant matcha taste in it. Do allow 25 minutes for the chef to prepare and it is worth waiting for it.

Miso Crumble Cheesecake

I love this so much! You can enjoy the creamy vanilla cheesecake with the miso crumble and summer berries with it. Perfectly done and the sweetness is not too overpowering.

Overall, Calia is indeed a nice place to visit. The food here is superbly delicious and we definitely come back for more!
