Tai Tong Restaurant 大東酒楼 Dim Sum @ Georgetown, Penang: Over 70 years dim sum place!

May 1, 2022 by StrawberrY Gal

For those who are planning for some dim sum in Penang, Tai Tong Restaurant is one of the place you can go for dim sum. The restaurant is one of the oldest dim sum establishment in Penang where they are here even before I am born. Tai Tong Restaurant is established back on 1950s and I still remember that my grandparents and parents used to bring me there for dim sum every time.

In here, one can enjoy the dim sum like the traditional way where the aunty will push the pushcart and ask which you love to get. The dim sum is decently good and they have quite a variety to go for. This includes the siew mai, prawn dumpling, char siew bao, lao sah bao and many more.

Another must have here is their signature Hong Dou Mee. These dish is the signature dish here where my parents and grandparents will order this whenever they come here. This is where the deep fried ee mee is served together with the creamy signature gravy on top. They are so good that many of the locals will go back every time for this.

If you are looking to hunt for some old time signature dim sum in Penang, this is one of them.
