International Concertist Rafael Serrallet Charms Kuala Lumpur with Classical Guitar Recital

 International classical guitarist Rafael Serrallet charmed the intimate crowd of 80 attendees in Chinatown, Kuala Lumpur, with his guitar recital – Capricho Espanol. Doors to the evening concert held on Apr 23 were open beginning 5:30pm at Four Points by Sheraton Kuala Lumpur, Chinatown.

With a career spanning 30 years and 1,000 over concerts across 100 countries, Serrallet is probably the most internationally experienced and gifted concertist among the Spanish performers. Serrallet, a charismatic performer is able to literally merge with his guitar during his performances, leaving the crowd breathless. Throughout his musical career he has received numerous prizes, awards, and recognition from H. M. the King of Spain, Honduras, Italy, Oman, Colombia, and Panamá.

Capriccio Español is a careful selection of pieces of the guitar repertoire. In the concert, the audience listened to some of the most well-known tunes of the Spanish music and some lesser known works. The musical trip journeyed them to another time and introduced many diff¬erent composers. 

Serrallett mesmerized the crowd with 10 numbers including Canarios (G. Sanz, 1640-1710), Waltzes (D.G.G. M.A., 1808), Fandango Varié (D. Aguado, 1784-1849), El gato montés (M. Penella, 1880-1939), La violetera (J. Padilla, 1889-1960), Capricho Árabe (F. Tárrega, 1852-1909), Estudio Poético (D. Fortea, 1878-1953), Invocación y Danza (J. Rodrigo, 1901-1999), Luces y sombras (C. Montero, 1962-2020), and Leyenda (I. Albéniz, 1860-1909).

As the most internationally-experienced concertist among the Spanish performers, Serrallet is the first classical musician who has played in all seven continents and achieved a Guinness Record because of that. He has become – from his own merits – one of Spain’s global music ambassadors.

The event is sponsored by Federal International Holdings Berhad, TECXEL Global Resources, and Four Points by Sheraton Kuala Lumpur, Chinatown. 

Next up at the Hotel, guitarist Hong Tee will be performing a few World Premiere pieces specially commissioned for her by well-known foreign and Malaysian composers. Her World Premiere 1.0 performance will be held on May 28 at Four Points by Sheraton Kuala Lumpur, Chinatown, and World Premiere 2.0 will be held on June 11 at Menara Choy Fook On. On Sept 17, concertist Ingrid Riollot will be performing at Four Points by Sheraton Kuala Lumpur, Chinatown.
