In Depth Review : The Samsung A 73 5G

May 30, 2022 by StrawberrY Gal

As we know Samsung had released their A Series line earlier which are the A33, A53 and A73.This time, the mid-range phone A73 5G brings you with the largest, highest refresh rate screen as well as the best camera among its A-series.

The Design

Samsung Galaxy A73 looks beautiful at first glance. The polycarbonate-made device looks and feels premium in hand. We have the Awesome Grey color variant with us which looks beautiful from every angle. Samsung has given a metallic finish to the side rail to further make it appealing to the eye. The rear panel has a matte finish ensuring it doesn’t get smudged that easily. The phone starts with 181 grams and offers a slim body of 7.6mm thickness even though it offers a massive battery under the hood. The design comes simply impressive with the solid feel on the hand.

The Colours

The Samsung Galaxy A73 5G comes with 3 awesome colours which is the Awesome White, Awesome Grey and the NEW Awesome Mint.

The Display

The screen comes with a 6.7-inches Super AMOLED Plus screen. With this, you will attain FHD resolution support, 800 nits brightness sufficient for outdoor usage, and a 120Hz refresh rate for a smooth transition in the interface. With the 800 nits, you can also enjoy vivid outdoor visibility up to 800 nits¹ while reducing blue light with the Eye Comfort Shield

They are protected with the Corning Gorilla Glass 5 which is where the screen is protected together with the anti-scratch. The Samsung A73 5G comes with the selfie camera and in display fingerprint scanner on the front which is fast and accurate. It is really an elegant look and they are just so beautiful overall.

The Camera

Talking about the camera, the Samsung Galaxy A73 5G comes with the Quad Camera setup. The main camera is 64-megapixel F/1.8. There is no telephoto lens. There is an ultra-wide lens of 8megapixels as well. The main camera comes with the 108 MP which definitely a selling point where your photos is more detailed too.

Additionally, the phone includes a 5MP macro and 5MP depth lens for dynamic range. Aside from this, you will also attain a pretty astounding 32MP selfie camera on the front. With this, you can take images even in low light appropriately.

As for video, they come with only 4K at 30 FPS. Even though it is just 4K at 30FPS, the quality is pretty good and thanks to the sensor which is sharp and big. The night shot does not disappoint us anyhow as well.

The Performance

The A73 5G performance is indeed eye opening too. They come with the new chipset from Samsung, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G which makes the overall experience much smoother. The gaming experience is awesome and thanks to the optimization. This is paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage. There is also a micro-SD storage where you can add up your storage up to 1TB in size.

Bundle together with the Super AMOLED display and 90Hertz refresh rate with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778, playing games is no longer a problem anymore especially for those PUBG mobile or Genshin Impact. We had tried them in playing games such as Genshin Impact and more and there is no lag at all after 1-2 hours of playing them. We also do some video editing with the phone such as using the apps like Inshot and VivaVideo and it is working really awesome

The Battery

Powering the phone is a 5,000mAh battery which is identical in capacity to its lesser siblings the A53 5G and A33 5G along with support for 25W fast wired charging from a compatible charger. Even with the larger display, the Galaxy A73 5G was able to easily last a full day of heavy use.

There is no charger inside the box and the given cable has a USB Type-C port at both ends. So, if you have a new charger, this cable might work with it otherwise you will have to purchase a new charger. Any old charger which has a Type-C port at any end can also be used.

Verdict

Overall, I am impressed with the phone as it give me great display, powerful processors and juicy photos with their awesome camera. Complete with the IP67 water resistance design plus the additional protection from Gorilla Glass 5, your device is now tougher and less prone to scratches.

I can say it is indeed a premium mid-range phone at affordable price. The Samsung Galaxy A73 5G is priced at RM 2,099.00 (RRP) with 8Gof RAM together with 256 GB storage.
