W KUALA LUMPUR’S BAZAAR MALAM

March 17, 2022 by StrawberrY Gal

Flock on over to W Kuala Lumpur for local delights with a twist from 3rd April to 2nd May 2022. Our Pan-Asian dining restaurant, Flock, will be serving up a plethora of tantalising dishes prepared by our talented Executive Chef Haznizam Hamzah and Chef Suhalmi Mohammed Tasir.

With ‘Bazaar Malam’ as its moniker, Flock will be aptly revamped into a bazaar that Malaysia is oh-so-famous for, featuring multiple different stalls each serving up sumptuous local fare. The bazaar theme intends to evoke fond memories of a truly Malaysian icon – the hustle and bustle of a lively night bazaar market.

Be spoilt for choice with a spread of authentic Malay Kerabu salad as your pembuka selera. As you walk through the buffet line, we hope you have space to sample each one of the stations we have prepared.  A local delicacy and a staple food for Malaysians is the must-try Rojak Pasembor and the Popiah Basah. Our chefs at Flock have prepared some unique, fusion Sushi with a twist of Satay and Rendang Sushi.

Our multicultural population, consisting mainly of Malays, Chinese and Indians, brings an abundance of different cuisines. In addition, our mutual love for food enables us to assimilate food from different cultures, creating a fusion that is uniquely Malaysian. Experience the true ‘Bazaar Malam’ diners can always look forward to the Instagrammable foods or opt for a safer yet timeless classic such as an array of –fresh premium grilled seafood – lobster, prawn, squid, seabass with tasteful sambal dips. Must-tries are also chef’s speciality Daging Salai, a dish famously known in Negeri Sembilan which is a smoked beef dish cooked up to 6 hours until they are so meltingly tender with a masak lomak taste, the Rendang Tok which is famously known in Perak also the birthplace of Chef Suhalmi. This dish is a speciality of his father, which his father used to prepare during kenduri’s at the kampung. Chef Suhalmi added his own twist and will be preparing an elevated version using Angus Beef Ribs.

Additionally, Chef Haznizam will prepare his mother’s specialty from the state of Johor, the Ikan Mayong Assam Pedas. Not to be missed is the Sabah Slipper Lobster Roti John, Lok-Lok Stall, a popular Malaysian street snack. This snack is essentially various skewered meats and vegetables. Savour the chef’s signature Berbiri Panggang Basmati, a Mughal Biryani Rice cooked in saffron and eggs with a local twist.

The perfect ending to a truly amazing meal, Chef Kevin Yong the pastry chef extraordinaire has some sweet and tantalising dishes prepared using local fruits like the Guava Mousse, Papaya Panna Cotta and not forgetting his D24 Durian Cheese Cake. He started off his career as a Commis in 2007 and represented Malaysia in the IKA Culinary World Cup Olympic National Team in 2012 where he was awarded the Silver Medal Award. Chef Kevin and his team have created an array of rich and decadent desserts during W Kuala Lumpur’s ‘Bazaar Malam’.

Surau facility is available. Seating will be thoughtfully arranged to ensure ample space between guests. Reservations are highly recommended.
