STARBUCKS MALAYSIA ENHANCES ITS LOYALTY PROGRAM

June 30, 2021 by StrawberrY Gal

Starbucks Malaysia today officially launched its new Starbucks Rewards loyalty program, which will give its members flexibility and choice in redeeming STARs for free from menu items, such as beverages and food. Starting from 30th June onwards, members nationwide will earn stars by using their registered Starbucks Card in store or through the Starbucks Malaysia app. Starbucks Malaysia has made these enhancements in response to customers’ feedback and also part of a wider push to continuously innovate the Starbucks experience for its Malaysian customers.

The industry-leading Starbucks Rewards program – first introduced in Malaysia in 2011 – continues to surge in popularity. With the launch is also a sleekly-redesigned mobile app for iOS and Android devices, which offers a more personalized experience, bringing benefits, announcements and exciting promotions to life through engaging and interactive in-app features for its members who use the Starbucks Malaysia app regularly.

“Since the introduction of our loyalty program in Malaysia ten years ago, we’ve seen tremendous growth and continued utilization of our program and believe it was the right time to evolve to meet the current needs and purchase patterns of our customers,” said Sydney Quays, Group CEO of Berjaya Food Berhad and managing director of Starbucks Malaysia and Brunei. “For this program, we have invested not only in platform technology, but also in the structure of the system, with the goal of providing a more intuitive process through various new features that help enhance the Starbucks Experience on our digital platforms. With these new updates, our customers are offered more flexibility and choices for their in-store journey.”

With the new Starbucks Rewards, members can now earn one (1) STAR for every RM1 spent on purchases made in all Starbucks stores in Malaysia with their registered Starbucks Card or Starbucks Malaysia mobile app. The STARs can then be used on Rewards, which can be redeemed at participating stores. For every 200 STARs accumulated, members can redeem a complimentary Grande handcrafted beverage, except Reserve™ beverages, or selected food.

In addition, customers will have access to exclusive benefits:

• Double Stars Day

• Birthday Rewards

• Personalized promotions

• Invitations to exclusive activations or events such as coffee tastings and brand news.

• Early access to new products and launches.

As part of the launch, Starbucks Malaysia will also be running a promotion in which for every RM200 spent from 1st July to 31st July 2021, an additional 50 bonus STARs will be rewarded. Customers can join the Starbucks Rewards™ program through the free Starbucks Malaysia app. Download the app (available for Android and iOS systems), register for the program and activate it with the first purchase.
